Who's with me??

I like the idea of a classics park, it dosen't seem likely, but it's an idea I like (you could put America Sings in there and Horizons too) If you built it out in Texas somewhere halfway between WDW an Disneyland you could build it as a Magic kingdom Style park with a ride like Horizons going onto Tomorrowland and Amica sings in Liberty Square, where Mr Lincoln would also reside doing the amalgamated speech he did for so many years at Disneyland instead of solely reciting the Gettysburg address.

I actually have a blue sky idea written down very similar to that, it's a "disneyanya" themed hotel, it'd be the only hotel to have a couple of attractions built in, mainly I was thinking of it having Mr. toad's ride in it, a 20K leagues swimming pool where the subs would be lined on one side. (stationary but you could go underneath and watch all the people swimming from underwater). Everyone at one point has thought about what it would be like to swim through 20K. And it would have a disneyanya store, Full of memorbelia. the hotel would be decorated with art from extinct attractions and feature large photos of from the history of WDW. If this hotel existed, wouldn't you want to stay at it?

it could also have the original version of the Enchanted Tiki Room, perhaps reincarnated as a restauraunt, though, actually, I think the Polynesian Resort Hotel should have the original enchanted Tiki Room

hmmm where to put it....perhaps the first location on property that was opened to the public, the preview center (current AAU building), could be redeveloped to be the entry to this hotel. which could be placed directly behind it. The preview center has long been my idea of a location to open as a WDW history musem. Rooms would then have lakefront views...it could also then be connected to the new Wedway line from Downtown Disneys station of the Downtown Disney extension of the monorail (yes I get carried away with this stuff rather easily!)

I'm sure you probably know this, but the Enchanted Tiki Room was originally conceived of as a restaurant!

I should dig up my notes on this, I've got about ten pages worth of notes and some drawings somewhere.

I believe it had four main buildings three with all the rooms, the fourth is the Store and convention center,a museum of sorts, the history of Walt Disney world. Connecting the buildings is an old "skyway" ride. In each room the center piece would be a piece of memorbelia with a plaque describing it's place in wdw history. The room card keys would be replica's of WDW tickets with it corrisponding to different priced rooms. (An E-Ticket room anyone?)

I think each building had it's own extinct attraction, Mr. toad, journey into Imagination and One I have pictures of, but never have been on, had Mickey, snow white, Alice in wonderland.

I had another WDW hotel idea that was also interesting.

i loved dreamflight!

this is definitely the thread for me. I love seeing "ride-thru" videos of all the rides I knew and loved. and I, for one, would love to see Buzz get the ax in favor of "If You Had Wings."

Throw in a casino and build it in Vegas!

My kids would be DEVASTATED without Buzz! :cry:

being an avid Rollercoaster Tyccon 2 player, I understand the need to scrub less popular attractions.. I've tried keeping coasters (or kiddie rides) and making new ones to where they might bring attention to the old ones. Doesn't work (in the game at least). If something is old, it won't bring much profit to where it becomes overhead. In the end, demolishing is the best answer for a thriving park.

I see why Disney has to close down rides. Just because we like them doesn'e mean everyone else does. The turnstyles count the amount of people that go on the ride and if they don't reach the number they want they have to add a new attraction to keep the park popular. After Mission:Space was added there was a major increase in the amount of guests going to EPCOT.

I don't remember "if you had wings"...is that the same as Dreamflight? I know DF changed names....I think anyway....I loved that ride b/c I remember riding it over and over and over and over and.....you get the picture. While my family was riding Space Mountain, b/c I was too scared to ride it and there was never a line for Dreamflight, so I just did that until they were off SM!!!! I like Buzz but it is getting old and I never win so BRING BACK DREAMFLIGHT!!!!

But what if the ride costs beacoup bucks to operate but is incredibly popular? That was the situation with 20,000 Leagues. Then you're left in almost a catch-22 situation. But, if the ride in question attracts visitors and generally does well with visitor counts, is it not worth investing the money in it?
