That would be a good option... I like it!
Ok, so I was thinking the other day...
You know how, when you get in the ride vehicle on Spaceship Earth, you get to chose your language? And whatever language you choose, you hear the narration in that language? (You've never selected French? It's hypnotic, you gotta try it!)
Well, wouldn't it be cool if you could select a previous version of the narration? Like, what if one of the language options was "retro" or something similar... and then you could choose 1980's/Walter Cronkite or 1990's/Jeremy Irons?
I know that lots of the narration wouldn't match the scenes you are looking at, particularly on the descent... OH SNAP! What if they showed stills/video of the previous ride scenes on the display in front of you?? Just thought of that.
Okay, enough of my dreaming.

I love the Jermemy Irons narration, but I'm not sure how well it would look paired with some of the new show scenes, same with Walter Cronkite. What I would like to see is someone doing a video with the old narrations dubbed over a current ride video. I"m curious now.

north, south, east and west...all roads lead to Rome
I'd prefer Will Ferrell doing a James Lipton impression for my narration.

I loved the Jeremy Irons version of the ride and would love to see and experience it again. I do not know if I'd like to have ride video of the old ride while on the new ride though. I do like some of the scenes from the new ride even though I do not like the narration. Maybe if they did something in Communicore where you can sit and listen/watch the old ride instead of it being ON the new ride that'd be nice.
I'd choose the Jeremy Irons narration, myself. Great idea, though. Where are the Imagineers when you need them?!
Or even better, what if they got Jeremy Irons to do a revised narration, keeping the older spiel while providing a new spiel for the updated scenes with the same feel, and not some dumbed down Judi Dench nonsense. I think it would be really spooky to hear Cronkite's version again :P
As much as I would love that, I doubt it would happen. Imagineers hold tight to ideas. Also as much I don't like the Judy Dench, I question whether I don't like it because I miss Iron or if it's truely bad. It does fit well with the new show scenes, and who says they would not do the same (dumbing down) for a new Jeremy Irons.
