WDW before 1971

I remember my parents taking me to a place in Florida before 1971 (I assume this was somewhere on Disney property). There was a visitors center with a display model of what WDW was going to look like. I don't remember if there was a film or not. I've asked my parents and they remember taking us. I've also read that there was some type of visitors center before construction was completed and the park opened. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Re: WDW before 1971

I was never there, but I know one existed.
I believe it had rendrengs, master plan drawings, and models. Not sure about the film, though.

I think this site will help jog your memory:
Widen Your World - The Walt Disney World Preview Center
There was definitely a film, and the building is still on Hotel Plaza Blvd., serving as the headquarters of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).

Re: WDW before 1971

Thank you-I always remembered it and I've heard other people mention it...so I knew I wasn't dreaming it up. Thanks again.
