that is true... we cant turn around and get the essence of the real Main Street back ever again... and sadly 20k is in the same boat, err, well you know what i mean... it is disturbing to see a successful (and rich) company like Disney resort to some of these closures as a cost cutting measure... especially in a time period when things were doing very well... just think for Disney alone... releasing The Lion King, Aladdin not being too old, and the other success the business was pulling... why were cost measures made... to make more money of course... and look where it led to... Eisner and Ovitz have nothing to do with Disney anymore (and Ovitz would like to forget that the Disney thing ever even happened) and many of Eisners "cronies" are elsewhere as well... where did it get them... no where...

The saddest thing to me is how Disney is getting away with this. Many younger people don't know how good the Disney experience used to be. These customers are easily satisfied with garbage like Stitch, and endless t-shirt stores. Disney doesn't want to put in the effort to be the best like they used to and the masses don't seem to care.

But you do have to give the "new" Disney credit. The new imagineers and marketing departments have given us Duffy. :wink:

There is a Simpsons episode where Lisa makes a doll to compete with Malibu Stacy. At the end of the show the Malibu Stacy doll is "updated" and this "new" Malibu Stacy outsells Lisa's very creative idea. The kicker is that what makes Malibu Stacy new is the updated doll now comes with a hat. That, to me, is the essence of minusing.

She would be allocated a new hat, given one when she's fresh out of the box and then it would be removed a month later. Putting it back would then be referred to as "plussing" rather than, I dunno, "doing what should have already been done" ?

On top of the original Main Street going away is the fact that they built the same exact sort of model at the Studios. I think it really hit me on my most recent visit. Yes, there are different sections (I needed baby clothes for my nephew and they took me to one area for it, which was better than them telling me, "It's all over the store, sir") but essentially it's shirts on top of shirts on top of shirts. For a better feel of how Main Street USED to be, stick to the Candy Shop side and not the Emporium side. The stores still connect, but you still have to go through the candy shop, the bakery, the glass shop (at least they still have the glass blower in the back), etc.

The only benefit is at closing time, when the sheep are all standing along Main Street to watch Wishes... again... and you just want to get out quickly. That's when the shops actually help out.

Stitch's Great Escape is among my least-liked attractions. It honestly serves no purpose. The classics are leaving us...Dreamflight a good example. Granted, I only went on it once, when I was 5, but that's actually only one of the more vivid memories of my first trip; I don't remember much, because I was 5. Also, the Hunchback of Notre Dame show, I remember I LOVED it because when I was younger it was one of my favorite movies. When Lights Motors Action opened, Indiana Jones was cut down to only 1 or 2 performances a day...I went a few trips without seeing it, and then they had a more than just 1 performance a day; was happy to see it again.

During the day the Emporium isn't too bad...at night, you can't move in that place. I always go out the other side...unless I refuse to leave MK with Mickey (in some plush form)....Candy Store side is always a good escape...especially with my sister, she is Autistic, and when it's time for to leave because she's tired, she makes it known...

I was exceptionally proud of Alien Encounter coming into being. At a time when it appeared that creativity was being squeezed from the WED "sponge", and at a time when the focus began to shift to the sugary, it represented a huge measure of courage and determination on the part of its creators. I do not argue with those who say that it never belonged in the Magic Kindom, indeed I am somewhat partial to that line of argument, but nonetheless AE was unique.

Disneyland Paris has an arcade along either side of Main Street. If you don't want to walk outside, you can cut through the indoor corridor. It was an excellent way to keep traffic flowing during peak hours and parade times.

I really don't know what I would give to see that show one more time...was a staple movie of my childhood and my mom always says that the show was one of my favorite things down there the first time I went...almost 15 years ago now

Not going to say that the Laugh Floor is the greatest thing out there, but I will go see that ANY day over Great Escape...my sister always finds it amusing, so I go see it...there are definitely some things that can be changed about the Laugh Floor to make it better, though

I haven't seen the laugh floor. The last two times we went to the MK nobody asked to go on it. Is Billy Crystal or John Goodman's voices involved? If so, I'm glad I haven't seen it.

As far as I remember I don't think so; last time I was down I didn't see it, though...it uses the same technology as Turtle Talk with Crush, and I'm pretty sure the preshow narrator isn't either of them. Definitely not worth waiting like 45 minutes for, but if you can get in to a show without waiting it's good for a laugh or two.

Leaving the corpses of deceased rides is minusing.
