Somewhere in an old family album, I have a photo of my sisters and I standing in that hallway, back when it was lit like a rainbow. I didn't have a clue where it was from, so thanks for helping me figure it out.
Just stumbled upon this one this evening (don't think it's been posted):

I did not see that one before. Thanks, I love this stuff. There is yet another one buried on this sight too that goes a little deeper in. It shows that almost all the kiosk areas are almost perfectly intact.
The lobby-ish area up their is actually still used. When there are special guests or corporate events they bring in plants etc. set up like a little home base, oasis in that area.
This one shows the before and current of the upper level. The rainbow is in there in the before video.

Ohhhhh the memories... it kills me to know so much is still up there just falling apart. There's a few videos out there from folks who got up there during the backstage tour etc. There's one posted by someone who literally just asked a CM if they could go up, with a chaperone and after a quick chat with a Supervisor, up they went.
On this last trip we took in September, I stood by the stairs for about 20 minutes, pacing back and forth between the stairs and where some CMs were standing... trying to build up the courage to ask... but chickend out.![]()

On the Epcot Disney tour you get to go up to that level - but no cameras allowed :-( Was weird being up there tho seeing the wasted space.
Did they take you through just the lobby or through all the closed down exhibits that are still up there?

We went up the stairs and through the old colour exhibits where you painted the ceiling with guns, then through to the vestibule - i.e the glass pyramid. Lots of scaffolding poles (?) and old sets. Didn't see much else. He said Disney wouldn't use the space as there were no toilet facilities.
Funny how that only became an issue many, many years after the fact.
I miss the pin tables, but don't recall a great deal about the area overall.

I'd like to give kudos to whoever created the rest rooms rumor. It has legs and lives on.So many attractions have their facilities on one level. There is an elevator, stairs and escalator, how much more accessible could a building be. And if Disney wanted to, something tells me they are capable of installing a restroom or another elevator shaft. It just isn't a difficult task. Finding a sponsor, that seems to be Disney's stumbling block.

I think the whole "no cameras" thing on these tours is just BS. It's ok to charge a fortune to let people see backstage but you don't want them to carry a memory of it? I hate to admit it (because I'm normally really against those who break the rules on property and are proud of it) but when/if we do that tour, we're talking my mecca here (the old Imageworks is by far my single fondest WDW memory from my childhood), I'll be buying a spy camera watch/pin thing.![]()
