I'd have to say the original Living Seas is what I miss most from Epcot, where admittingly I spend the least amount of time (I usually only hit that and MK, possible MGM for TOT). Being a diver, and having a longstanding love of undersea life and exploration, as well as having personal links with many of the companies featured in the pavillion, it was just a perfect experience for me. I'll have to wait and see how Nemo affects this.

Simply because I only went to The Living Seas when going round Epcot. The rest of the place never held much interest for me. If I AM shot though, do I have to supply the blindfold, or what?

I, for one, think it's cool that you've been so devoted to the Living Seas for so long. A lot of rides have their fanatics, especially for extinct attractions. You can see that most people on this thread are Horizons junkies, or fans of the original Journey Into Imagination. However, we rarely see people who take the time to really get into the Living Seas, so I'm glad that you have.
Do you have any insider info on the Living Seas of the past or present that only a diver would know? By that I mean anything that you noticed that those of us without underwater experience just wouldn't get.

Insider info on the actual attraction? No.
Info on the stuff IN the attraction? Heck yes!
Any requests?
I'll also say that one thing the average person wouldn't pick-up on is the 'Hollywood-ification' of the Seas. Real habitats aren't as glamourous; The air would be filled with electronic equipment registering, generators and other machines, there wouldn't be any sort of carpeting, water would constantly be dripping from the ceilling, and they would probably only just be deep enough to use SCUBA. There is no way they would be using ADS or ROVs from Seabase Alpha in reality.

Thanks for this stuff; it's definitely an alternate reality down in Sea Base alpha, but it's nice to hear about some of what real "sea bases" are like.Originally Posted by 20K

That was a great article. I'm such a fan of McGinnis.

I don't have one. I only saw Epcot once.

Now as more updates to Epcot occur, I am really going to miss Food Rocks.I really loved this show, even though it was a bit on the goofy side. Also, does missing the more traditional buffet at Akershus count as another Epcot attraction to miss ?

I never saw Food Rocks, I don't know why exactly. However, I was a big fan of the old Kitchen Kabaret when I was a little kid. To me back then, it was so great to see so many different characters on stage at once.Originally Posted by wonderalice23

Definitely Horizons....but I also like the original Imagination ride.

Wow, growing up I always disliked Epcot the most. It just didn't have the whimsy of MK that I expected when I went to Disney. Now I realize how many fabulous attractions that I used to love were all in one place. I loved the beginning of WoM where you went outside for all of 5 seconds (my great-grandfather designed that building for a world's fair and the design was copied for this ride so I always felt an attachment to it). I remember loving Horizons although the only part I have a clear memory of was the choose your own ending. The communicores were always a good way to kill some time during a Florida rain storm and why they ever thought they needed to change the original Imagination is beyond me. Is there anyone out there who actually prefers the new version?!
But beyond all else, I absolutely miss the original Image Works the most. My parents used to get so annoyed because my sister and I refused to leave that area until we had done everything, and the lines and crowds were always big. I remember being "on stage" with Dreamfinder acting out little movies in front of a blue screen, coloring in different figment pictures on the computers, and the HUGE pin tables. At 27 I would still probably spend more time there than anywhere else in Epcot if that was still around in it's original form.

The pin tables! YES! I LOVED those! I would spend hours on end there and my parents would have to drag me away, but not until I had colored ALL of the different pictures and made at least 5 different combinations of pictures on my face with the popping out eyes and kissing lips.
