Before Magic Carpets of Aladdin

I can't remember what Adventureland looked like before the Carpet ride was added. Surely there wasn't all of that free space before.

Can anyone describe the area before this ride appeared?

I was looking at an old MK guidemap (1988) and there really wasn't anything in that area at all. A kiosk called Bwana Bob's stood kind of out where the walk down to the Jungle Cruise starts now, and it *looks* like it was open all the way down to the buildings at the dock. I think the tikis stood next to Bwana Bob's and didn't spit.

Otherwise, they may have redesigned the fronts of the shops a little, but the space was there.
The area had a tropical theme throughout, with traces of the British and Spanish colonial empires evident in the architecture.

Looking back on my old picture albums I don't recall any major attraction in that area just some wide open space and scenery like disneydame said.

I don't think there was anything there before...they could've done something cooler than that though. Although, I went to WDW with my friend and that's her favorite type of ride (Dumbo, Triceratops Spin, Magic Carpets of Aladdin - you get the picture) so she dragged me on it. It's cute and all...but, yoyu can just go to Fantasyland for the same thing!

Although, Aladdin is my favorite Disney prince!!!

Somewhere I have a picture of the area before the Carpet Ride was installed....would be around the late 70's and I remember the Tiki statues standing there and a flower/straw market with exotic birds....It may take me a while to find the pic....I haven't seen that box since the move....but I will look!
