Hate to say it, but I remember when that first came out on TV long ago, like 1962!?
YouTube - The Haunted Mansion is visited by Kurt Russell & the Osmonds
I found this video while looking for a ride through of the HM. The first part of the video is very neat.. Once you hit the 6 minute mark it is a little cheesy... But the first part is great!!

Ha! That was great! You can see how the Disneyland version is a little different after the stretching room. Those portraits are still there. My fave was the lady with the snakes. Funny to see a young Kurt and an even younger Donny.
It's cheesy, but I love cheesy. I love seeing how high-tech some of those things were back then.
You're right before the 6 minute mark it was pretty cool, after the 6 minute park it was as scripted as the WDW Christmas Parade. Right, Reeg? Correct, Peppa. lol

I remember seeing this on Vault Disney once. We'd just come back to our hotel from a day at WDW.
Speaking of Kurt Russell, I just saw him in The Barefoot Executive, a cute Disney film from the early 70's.
Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.
man it was pretty bad after the 6 min, but it made me laugh and wish i was in the ride myself. it was cool seeing how they had to put it all together though, didnt realise how much work it took
I just loved seeing how they made the animatronics work and move... And seeing everyone smoking while in a work place.. Shows how dated it is. But the technology, attention to detail, and imagineering that went into it is just fantastic!!

"Oh... that's wiiiild!"
"Isn't that somethin'?"
"Far out!"
I'm laughing my butt off over here. Did people seriously talk like that in the 60s and 70s? Or was dialogue like that just made up and put into old TV shows like the Brady Bunch and this documentary.
On the technical side though... that was suprisingly "high tech" for the time. Kind of neat to see some of that behind the scenes stuff from it's earliest stages.
