The easiest answer is this: what kind of skills do you have, or have the potential to hone?
A lot of the more "obvious" paths to follow for Imagineering lead to areas that are almost entirely out-sourced now to sub-contractors.
Imagineers seem to come from multiple disciplines, not just one or two techincal fields. Follow what interests you.
WDI run an excellent internship scheme; applying for that (now or when you are old enough) would be an good step.
Thanks thats some good advice right now i am still i high school so this will help when i am choosing collages majors etc. but i now i want to something with disney and after my freshman year in collage i want to try out for the collage program
You could do both. Do the CP as soon as you can, and then do the WDI professional internship at the other side of your schooling.
Ok thanks i will have to look into the WDI internship
The fact that you experienced working the "front line" of the industry (through the CP) would be a priceless asset if you indeed make the jump into the design sector of it all.
I read in multiple places that they prefer people who are artistically inclined...I don't know how true that is, but it seems pretty true looking at the work of imagineers...the College Program would be a huge help, and just put in resumes later on and see what you can do
I think it would be an awesome job...I just can't draw haha but I'm not sure if that's the type of work that I would be completely interested in...still, a job in WDW would be AWESOME
and as a freshman in college, I wouldn't suggest doing at the beginning of college...I am seriously considering it, but probably not until junior year
I am kind of artistic but not really in drawing but give me some cake icing fondant and some food coloring and i can work with it
i would upload some of my work but it isnt working
Think beyond drawing if that isn't where your strengths lie.
Model-making (both physical and digital); film-making; writing; music; sound design.
Things like that.
I think you should go try your hand at some modelling. Clay is pretty cheap. See what you can come up worth.
I think i might be good at that because clay is just like fondant so i may try that
