TTC #2 – Vellum

Welcome to the second task in the Tuesday Technique Challenge series.

These challenges will push you to explore techniques and materials you may not normally use in your creations.

Task for Tuesday Technique Challenge #2 is: Use vellum on a layout or card.

Vellum is a semi-translucent paper available in a variety of colors and textures for layering, stamping, dry embossing, texturing and more. (From the Encyclopedia of Scrapbooking)

Here is a sample of a card that has a red piece of vellum. Notice how it lets the background design come through, while still adding a touch of color to the design.

:stitch: Stitchify! –Make a pocket or envelope out of vellum.

Please upload your layout or card into the Disney Scrapbooking photo album, with TTC #2 in the title.

Also, when you post your item here, please list the supplies that you used (brand of patterned paper, type of embellishments, etc), so if someone loves one of your ideas they can find the supplies to lift it.

This challenge is going to run for two weeks. Deadline for TTC #2 is September 5th. And remember, you can combine challenges, so if you want to combine this with another challenge running, go right ahead!

I just happened to have finished a LO with vellum a few days ago. Hopefully I will get a chance to do another one, but for now here is my submission

Supplies Used

Patterned Paper: Pages in a Snap by 2 Busy Moms (Backdrop Basics)
Sticker Lettters: Making Memories
Embellishment: Dole Whip float self creation using vellum for cup and straw, vellum tape, black cardstock for spoon.

I want a Starring Roll. (Yes, I did spell it correctly. I want something from Starring Rolls Bakery. That would mean I was at WDW.)

Now I just have to go buy some vellum. I have never used it before. Yikes. I don't know where to start. A card would be good. But to make a pocket or an envelope. That is going to take some thought.

If Melissa would hurry and send me a Dole Whip I could use that! (Would that be considered cheating?)

A good idea for a pocket Minnie is to use it as a holder for something you dont want to permantly attach to the page. Like room cards or some other souvenier that is hard to attach.

OH and btw...vellum is that waxy stuff....LOL

Here is my contribution for the vellum(the waxy stuff) challenge. BTW I am STILL SEEING STRIPES!

I got the stripe paper in a pack from Dollar General.
The yellow is just yellow paper
The Trains are from a picture I saw on on Ebay and liked so I apapted them my way and paper pieced them together.
The poem is also from part of something someone was selling on Ebay and I thot it fit perfectly onto the page.
I ran out of little snap nails so I just made a pocket of the vellum for the co-pilots license by cutting it to size and holding it in place with strips of yellow paper.
The traveling the world text is from a sheet of phrases by Sandylion

Remind me not to use stripes again anytime soon. :dizzy:

um, seriously, them's a lot o stripes! But I do love what you did with them.

LOL...thanks. Wanted to see how outrageous I could get with the scheme. What else was I going to use that paper for?
