    Another hello from Pennsylvania!

Hello, my name is Chris and it has been over 4 years since my last trip to Walt Disney World. I am a long time podcast listener and decided it was about time I joined the forum as well.

A little about myself - I live near Allentown, PA with a husband and two kids (ages 7 and 3). I work full-time as a mom and part-time as an engineer. Outside of those things, I like crafting of many sorts, letterboxing, and interactive fiction / role playing games.

In other news, I've received the green light for planning a trip to The World in 2008. I'm ready to thumb my nose at the school system and take the kids out of school for the trip, so it's a matter of deciding when we want to go and where we'd like to stay. Both previous trips were in October to Port Orleans... does anyone have a reason to change that pattern?

    to the boards, Chris!

October is still a great time to go, and Port Orleans still a wonderful pair of resorts. You might check your school calendar for any odd days off during that month to minimize the number of school days your kids will miss, but at that age they really should be okay if you give their teachers advance notice. Your kids are at a great age to really enjoy Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

    Happy planning!

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'll try to visit the chats some time soon. And no, I won't be at the Magicmeet this summer. If it was still in Allentown, I might have been able to sneak out for a day, but... Though my husband knows I like things Disney, he doesn't really know it's gone this far... or maybe he does. We always seem to have a family camping trip planned the weekend of the meet.

Chris and to our DWT family. I agree that your kids are still young enough that you can get away with taking them out if you need to go that time of year but as they get older it gets more difficult. Are you planning on going to MNSSHP?
It's kind of fun to do the impossible!

    Hi Chris...

You live about 30 minutes from me... we are in the Poconos.
DH is thinking of ALLOWING (yeah sure we are going) to WDW in September 2008 for DD - 15th birthday and it will also be my 12 year wedding anniversary.
I told him he has to take me back for our 15 year wedding anniversary, but I'll take 12 then 15.

Welcome to the boards. I'm also from PA, but from the other side of the state (just north of Pittsburgh). I agree that October is a great time to go and at their age your kids will likely get more out of their trip to Disney then they would be for those few days in school. I am an elementary school teacher, so I'm just being honest here!

As far as resorts go, Port Orleans is a great spot (but you know that already). If you can afford to spring for deluxe, the Yacht and Beach club's - - right by Epcot - - have a great atmosphere and very cool swimming pools.
