Welcome to the boards.
I'm a 12 year old kid at heart cleverly disguised in a 39 year old adult's body! I've loved Disney and WDW ever since I can remember. I live in Central NY State now, but hope to relocate to Florida, either in the Orlando or Naples area soon. I work in retail, in customer service, and I'm not sure what I want to do "when I grow up" but I'm thinking I could parlay that into a WDW career somehow.
My first trip to WDW as as a 5 year old in the summer of 1975, and again the next summer. We stayed off property both trips (Haines City Holiday Inn across from Circus World). My next few trips were day trips throughout the 1980's. My grandparents had divorced by then and Grandpa had moved to Kissimmee, making day trips to MK, EPCOT Center and that other park, Sea World (!) easy. Then college and life got in the way and I wasn't able to make another pilgrimage to WDW until 2003, when I finally decided after years of missing out, that I would venture down solo for Super Soap Weekend. I'm almost as big of a soap opera fan as I am a Disney fan and I figured what could be better than combining my 2 passions? That was SUCH a magical trip for me! Not only was that my first stay on property (All Star Music, Jazz Section before it became the Suites) but I got to meet 2 of the soap stars, and experience AK and MGM for the first time. I also met a woman who has become one of my dearest friends who later introduced me to New York City, Broadway and many more soap stars! I returned to WDW in 2004 for Super Soap Weekend staying this time at Pop Century. In October, 2007 I brought my friend Kelly, who had never been to WDW before even though she was 25 and a life-long Disney fan to Pop Century and I showed her "my" Disney World. It was so fun to see The World through a newbie's eyes! We also experienced Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party together for the first time.
Counting day trips in the 1980's I think I've been to WDW about 8 times. I'm itiching to go back, but a pesky thing called money is standing in my way! I turn 40 in 2010 and I was hoping to do it with Mickey (b/c if one MUST turn 40, shouldn't one do it in The Happiest Place On Earth?), but I just realized that Easter falls 2 days before, so costs and crowds will probably be prohibitive. Until I can get my WDW fix, I'm enjoying Lou's podcasts and reading posts here.
Thanks for letting me babble on. Hope to get to know you all soon!
