    Hello from Pennsylvania!

Just discovered WDW radio after I found the app in the iTunes store. Love it! Just got my first Celebrations Magazine in the mail yesterday.
My grandparents took me on my first Disney vacation in 1978. I went back 10 years later with my high school marching band and we got to march in the electric parade. I didn't come back until 2008 when I had my two kids. Had such a great time we did it again in 2009. Had such a great time again I thought "My whole family should come down here!" I went home and pitched the idea. So in September my parents, brother and sister and their families are going together. My dad is turning 70 and a trip to Walt Disney is on his "bucket list", so it should be a great time. We booked in October so the wait for this trip feels endless.
So glad to find a place where I can discuss all things Disney.

Welcome. You should totally tell the Disney people that your dad is having a birthday and don't forget the gathering of the family. We did it for our family gathering and got some extra benefits from them. It made our trip extra special.
We had a great time at the Caribbean Beach. Hope to go next year with all the kids and grandkids!!!

    Re: Hello from Pennsylvania!

Nothing planned beyond the trip. His actual birthday is a few weeks before (a few days after school starts so we didn't want to take the kids out of school at that time). We do have a couple of family dinners planned..One at O'Hanas, one at Coral Reef and one at Hollywood Brown Derby. I was thinking about getting a cake for one of them. Possibly a gift basket for his room when he arrives.
We did the booking 7 months ago. Did the dining reservations 6 weeks ago. I kind of fell out of planning mode. Should probably start thinking about it a bit more now that the trip is 4 months out.
Any suggestions of what to do for a birthday surprise?

Glad to see you find your way to the forums! I've been listening to the podcast for quite a while now, but only just recently made my way here. Glad to hear you're bringing your dad to Disney for his birthday, it really is fun to take someone there for the first time!

The Coral Reef was great. It feels like you're dining under water. Outside of getting a cake and a birthday song sung by the wait-staff (there were three birthdays the night we went to the Coral Reef) I can't think of anything else. I'm sure some of the more experienced Disney people in the forum could recommend something though. You should call WDW and ask them too.
