Suri and Katie in the castle - Is it true?

Well, Disney has been a little vague about what they were going to do with the suite after YOAMD - maybe they are opening it up to celebrities and people who can afford that kind of thing. In these economic times, any kind of publicity is going to be great for Disney. If people hear that celebrites like Katie Holmes are staying at Disney World, they may be more inclined to go.

...and sometimes it doesn't even take money. Most of the time, celebrities are given complimentary tickets.

Isn't that a kick in the teeth? People are struggling and dreaming of a Disney Vacation yet people with everything get handed tickets. Katie Holmes spends more on one purse then the average American Family spends on vacation. I think Disney should continue to give the Cinderella Suite to families on vacation not some pampered starlet whose claim to fame is spawning a child with Tom Cruise.
Or better yet, how about giving it to an American Soldier or Marine who is on leave after being on the battlefield? Or a firefighter or police officer who risked their lives doing their job? Or maybe even a teacher or nurse who made a difference in someones life?
Sorry for the rant. Too much political TV tonight

They may very well be doing that or may in the future. It just won't make the news and definitely not TMZ. One can only hope. Right now, if they would actually sell a night's stay for a pretty price maybe Disney would be able to keep as many people as possible employed. More power to 'em.

According to People.com... they were in the castle... not the suite... for a meal at Cinderella's Royal Table. That doesn't mean they weren't in the suite, they might have been, but I can't help but wonder if the media spun the fact that they had a meal in the castle into staying in the suite.

They weren't allowed to stay in the suite. Disney wasn't sure if they could get Tom's footprints off the couch.

I totally agree that soldiers show be rewarded when they return to the United States after serving their country. Whether you are democrat or republican, our troops are sacrificing for our freedom, and they should be rewarded, and you should support their decision to serve our country. I vote that WDW should devote the Cinderella Castle Suite to our troops some of the time, or at least give them some special benefit. I believe they are giving them a deal right now, but they should do more, maybe even place all veterens in a daily parade. I would definitely buy a soldier a Dole Whip if I knew they had fought to protect freedom. Mongello!

I agree 10000%, I also get really chapped on the extreme makeover stuff. How is it I cannot get a pic with Cinderella-even though I pay admission-without an hours long wait in line, and they get a special private meeting with her on the grass near the castle. Last time we went and saw that going on my daughter asked me if we just did not have the money for that. Crimeny, it made me feel cranky and then it made me feel like a parental failure. I so needed that.
I believe ANY american service member is more deserving then ANY hollyweird dunderhead, every single day of the week. Maybe, Disney company can coordinate a Salute to heroes and offer that suite to a service person and theri family everyday for this celebration year.
There were pics of her at WDW in one of the national magazines, I think her DH was at Daytona. Those bits of rubbish are great to read while waiting in the rather long lines at the supercenter. Like being held hostage for your money.LOL

Maybe DWT'ers and other Disney site members can do the random acts of kindness for soldiers. If you see one, or end up chatting with one, maybe just offer up a treat. We did that on both of our trips- Mickey Head ice Cream since that is where we happened to be, the smiles of joy on a little kids face-priceless, as WDWtraveler46 says.
