    Disney Tattoo guy...

So the famed Disney Tattoo guy who also has a disney collection of over 5,000 pieces (including, it appears, a Nautilus!) is auctioning it all -- he says he's tired of it and he's met a new woman whom he intends to marry and feels he needs to start fresh.

Here's the full story. The Disney "puns" are a little over the top in this article -- but the story is a good one. I would LOVE to be at the auction!

now that i just read the article this guy is real tragic... the fact that he inked himself for attention and spent all that money for attention... and now he will spend even more to get it all removed is worse...

I felt sad too. I can understand wanting to get distractions out of the way so that one's love for Disney does not become an obstacle to living. But if he met this lady at a Disney convention it sounds like he's finally met someone that could appreciate his hobby.

At the same time I do hope that Nautilus goes to a good home!

The article only mentions a Nautilus tattoo, not an actual model? You better believe any mention of that piques my interest!

    yeh it did... right here...

Included in the sale are Mickey Mouse decor, animation cels, park props, the Nautilus sub that he says is one of only three in the world, and an eight-foot-tall Jack Skellington figure from the Disney/Tim Burton fantasy film The Nightmare Before Christmas.

    straight from the article...

    Re: Disney Tattoo guy...

Apologies; I'm half-asleep at my end.

Edit: Went and read the article again to avoid looking like even more of an idiot. Sounds interesting. It's one heck of a scale if it is the size he claims. Imagine getting that thing rigged-up for R/C, taking it down to a local pond and scraping the hull out of a little child's model boat at "collision speed"...

    Mwahahahaha. Awesome.

When I find the article in a couple of weeks stating the 20k leagues under the sea enthusiast tackles 90 year old woman for man's auctioned Nautilus, I'll make sure to post it!

    Now there is a story

    Re: Disney Tattoo guy...

    Just been through the catalogue...

With complete seriousness, I genuinely think he would have made double what that he realised through those auctions if he had done it himself over eBay. A lot of his items weren't all that unique or special, but there were more than a few pieces which, with the much, much greater reach that eBay provides, would have sold for so much more than they ultimately did. He wouldn't have to worry about the same level of auctioneer fees as well.

    Re: Disney Tattoo guy...

I didn't read the article yet but his whole body is tattooed. I've met him last year at the D23 expo and I can't image having all of that removed. OUCH!!! And talk about the cost and scars.

    Re: Disney Tattoo guy...

I, for one, don't understand removing the tattoos. I don't understand it in general. But obviously, they represent a time in his life. Whether good or bad - it tells his story and is part of who he is.

I mean, he doesn't want to be noticed for his tattoos -- where a long sleeved shirt. Because by getting them removed - you are now going to be noticed as the guy with the scars all over his body. ??
