Send Bill Justice some love

One of the Disney greats, Bill Justice, is currently living in a nursing home in Santa Monica and I'm sure he'd love to receive Christmas greetings from Disney fans.

Bill worked in animation for years (he was lead animator on the Chip and Dale shorts) before moving into Imagineering. He programmed many of the early AA shows, including Hall of Presidents, the Haunted Mansion, and his personal baby the Mickey Mouse Revue.

Bill is suffering from memory problems (he's in his 90s), but likes to hear from fans. He especially likes reminders about the good old days.

Bill grew up in Indianapolis and went to school at Arsenal Tech High School and Herron School of Art (as did Bill Peet) so fellow Hoosiers please step up and give props to this great man.

As a fellow Hoosier as well, I just finished writing Bill a letter. I felt like it would be something nice to do for another person for Christmas. I wish there were more people that I could write to to personally thank them for their work. I know most of it was behind the scenes and they didn't get much praise for it.

I just heard that Bill passed away this morning. For some reason, having written him a note I feel a little sad at his passing. Maybe it is just me, but it feels like he was maybe just a little closer than any other person.

Another "gotta write to that guy" person for my Disney autograph collection that is now crossed off the list, sadly. Kept meaning to send him a letter, but when I learned he was in a nursing home, I decided against it. RIP.
