Are you aware of the rules of dress for the parks?

Recently a teenager from Florida made elaborate costumes for herself and her boyfriend. Dressed as Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, they were allowed into Disney Hollywood Studios, but were turned away from Magic Kingdom. I'm not going to go into how the situation was handled or what the guests were said to have been doing while in costume. I was just wondering how many other people, familiar with Disney, were unaware of the dress code prohibiting adults from wearing costumes to the parks...except for MNSSHP.

I didn't know, but it makes sense. I doubt anyone would mistake a child in costume for a character, but if you had adults running around dressed like official characters there might be some confusion amongst other guests.

me too. but i see that at halowen partys adaults can wear costumes. one time i saw real jafar walking around and someone said nice costume dude.:rolleyes:

Yeah, I was aware. Like a previous poster said, Halloween is OK for adults, but the rest of the time, it's not allowed.

I'm with Stewbot. Didn't know, makes perfect sense. It'd probably be a crowd control/security nightmare.

I'm well aware, after the fact when they had two security minions drag me off property because all I was wearing was my ancestral mask and spear passed down from many pygmy generations. At least you guys were lucky I keep up with the times and current trends of these new fangled things you call "pants"

I was aware. Also aware along the same line that "brides" could not enter parks in their gowns along with all the other restrictions on weddings etc. within the parks. Disney has tried to limit the breaks in the Disney Magic and they have done a good job in thwarting the Guests who wish to be the center of attention.

Me <------Who would want to? I'm going into the parks to be entertained, not trying to be the specictical or entertainment want-a-be.

My family was going to the Halloween Party pretty much since its creation. Back then, small kids dressed up, the CM's had fantastic costumes. Adults, I can't remember back then any adults "dressing-up."

Adults do dress up during halloween, you'd be surprised how many actually do dress up. Some notable characters I've seen when I was working the not so scary party were a family that dressed up as peter pan characters, except for smee, lots of tinkerbells, one lady wore a twister game mat (which I hope there's an actual costume for that, and not just the plastic tarp) and finally one guy who dressed up like jack sparrow, who was so convincing, people started coming up to him asking for pictures and autographs, which then drew attention to security who then escorted him off property and asked him to change out. This was just all within my little area by the Liberty Tree Tavern.

I thought the girl that was dressed as Tinkerbell (and asked to change) was not even close to looking professional. She was cheap looking. But I do see why Disney would not want ADULTS dressed up as characters they think kids might approach in a park. Unfortunately, you can't trust ALL people and that is a security issue. Getting adults out of the costumes is the only way to control who's ok for kids to approach and knows not. Sticky issue but understandable. I'm with Disney on this one.:mickeykid

Holy crud a pygmy siting! And here I thought you had fallen into the river and been eaten!

I read the story about Tink and Peter being told they had to go change and my take on it was that Disney was very kind about the whole thing (they gave her a free t-shirt to wear). The rules have been around for ages to prevent situations where guests are accosted by little kids wanting an autograph, a picture, etc. etc. While we may all love the idea of dressing up in our favorite Disney character, if you want to do it on property you just have to wait and hit MNSSHP. Do it at home all ya want in the meantime (I do). :)

i've never herd of that story. even at halowen kids think i'm Peter even wen i was 10 and 11.

I always dress a a tourist and never get bothered.
