Discracing the Magic...

Its most likely happened to all of us... Sometime, in the Happiest Place on Earth, someone has the nerve to discrace the magic...
Even in the place where enjoyment is so thick you can take a bottle and scoop some up, there will be thoes who are completely oblivious to it...

I'll start:

My family was in Epcot center, making reservations for the japanease resaraunt, and another family was doing the same.
us kids (at the time) were sitting on the bench to the side.
Earlier that day, I had a leather strap engraved with my name, and was wearing it around my wrist.
2 boys, older than me, desided this would be a prime target to ridecule.
"what is the stupidest name i can think of? definitly.. William"
and of course, they allways said my name in a squeaky, high piched voice.
I dont know how they were able to keep their remarks from repeating for the full 30-45 minutes we were there (i dont know the exact time, as it seemed to crawl by), but finally they were called away by their mother and returned to the park (not much of a relief, they would doubtlessly carry on on other people and subjects of ridicule).
luckaly, from common experiance of the school bullies, I had learned to shut off all emotional responses, and did so for this time by habit. But I couldnt beleave that they were bullying here of all places, and I still dont beleave it...although It must happen often, as I recieved lots of rude remarks on my trip to DisneyLand, and looking back I see some at WDW as well...

anyone mind posting their stories?

me and some of my family went to MGM just after it opened. needless to say, the lines were tedious, to say the least.

we were in line for The Great Movie Ride, a line that took, literally, hours. I think we were in line for about 3 hours before we got to the point where we were going to be on the next one. when our car came up, we were about to crawl in and this other entire family just jumped in front of us and got in! in our spot!

well, my uncle came unglued. he completely lost it on these people. and, granted, they deserved some sort of retribution, but he really made a scene. swearing, threatening to beat em up, etc. it was embarrassing and I felt terrible that a bunch of little kids had to hear that... they're probly scarred for life. we didn't get kicked out or anything, and we only had to wait about 5 or 10 mins for our turn, but I guess it was the whole principle of the thing that made him so mad.

but, they were completely oblivious... they didn't speak English.

I mean absolutely no racism against this, My best friend is of spanish liniage...

but I have seen happenings before where people use the whole predudice to their advantage...IE "appearing" to not speak the language, african-americans being total jerks and getting away with it through "your only blaming me because im black"

and, shamefully, it works...

again, I have no hatred against any races (after all, ive grown up on "its a small world after all") but sometimes...

We get guests who carry on whole conversations with a housekeeper before they realize they speak barely any English, then they come complain in guest services like I hire them or something. . . . people need to lighten up!

I was on the Haunted Mansion one time and this guy in the car behind me was having a loud, curse-filled argument with his girlfriend/wife/whatever. . . . on his cell phone! (talk about ruining the magic):(

heh, I remember, I was working my stand once, and I got this spanish or italian guy who gave me a local (foreign) credit card, I tried scanning it, and it didn't work, then I tried to read the numbers on it (they were rubbed to the point of near invisibility) and we asked him for a new one, the same problem, we informed him of this and he flipped out at us, cursing us out in his language, and stormed off.

and another time, near park close, I don't know how or why, but these two ladies who looked like they came out of Jerry Springer started having a yelling match across main street, i almost had to call security.

and one more time, I got back from my break and my filler was there and this poor little girl, she couldn't have been older than 11 or 12 and only in her bathing suit (it was a cold night in March, with the winds) and she was saying that she lost her mother and some guy was following her around all day, it was so sad, and I felt like a jerk, because I was told to keep taking orders. Eventually my manager came out and started talking to her, and finally security showed up and took her to City Hall I think, I'm sure that little girl found her parents, but it was a very sad sight

I've heard this many times on Main Street when someone is trying to take a picture. If you are really that miserable at WDW, leave. Go to Universal, China Splendor, anywhere but MY World. I want to have a good time and NOT listen to people who are yelling at each other!!!!!

Okay.. mine (a little lengthy) did not occur at Disney but it's a sharable story regardless..





A few years back during one of our family gatherings we went to Sea World... At that time we had 15 people.. We went our separate ways and agreed to meet up at the 5 o'clock show to see Shamu.. Well my DH and I decided to get there early (45 minutes early) to get some good seats.. We found my mother, father, brother, and 2 of my uncles right off the bat... We had great seats about 5 rows up in the center... My father and one of my Uncles went to find the rest of the group while we held the seats... About 20 minutes went by and some guy (a soccer hooligan) came over to me and said "Move Over!!" I told him that the seats we're taken and he told me that I had no right to do so... I told him that he should have come earlier if he wanted to sit in front... He called me a F'ing B*tch and walked away... About 5 minutes later he returned with his brother who began screaming at me telling my that I was a f'ing liar I just didn't want them sitting next to me... I explained that we actually had 15 family members and they we're coming... He became COMPLETELY irate and called my every single nasty word I could ever think and a few I haven't heard... He got right in my face so close I could see his tonsils... I think that he acted this way so I would become vulnerable and do as he said... Well... I'm not afraid to speak my own mind.. So I went right back at him.. (I didn't use any curse words at there were children in the area But I did make it clear I was standing my ground) by this time things we're getting really out of control... A security guard came over to calm down the situation... I explained my situation and the guy told the other family that they would have to sit further up... not wanting to hear that answer the hooligan pushed the security guard out of the way and screamed "I'm going to f'ing punch you, you f'ing b*tch!" My automatic reaction was to hold on to the back of the seat and "donkey" kick this guy down the steps.. Before he could reach me out of no where another (MUCH larger) security guard jumped in between the two of us and restrained the man... 2 more security guards came over and escorted the family to the top of the stadium.. It was all happened with/in a matter of minutes..



My family finally showed up and my mother told my father what happened.. Well a father's reaction about hearing a grown man threaten his little girl was probably what most dad's would do.. He wanted to confront the other man immediately.. My mother calmed him down and told him that they had left.. During the show I kept watching my father looking over his shoulder scanning the crowd.. THEN... I saw them.. The family was standing atop of the stadium and pointing down towards my family.. I knew that my father had also spotted them... Once the show was over I knew what would take place.. I quickly went over to my father and held onto him.. He told me that he was just going to talk to them.. Well.. I knew better and tightened my grip around him... with obvious adrenaline pumping through his veins.. he ran up the stairs pushing everyone out of his way... with me attached to his back.. My feet did not touch the ground once.. at the top I noticed my brother and my uncles were right behind us... the other men came right over as they had the same thing in mind.. The guy who tried to originally punch me was coming at my father with a closed fist... about 7 security guards intervened (thank god) and broke up what was about to be a pretty nasty scene.. all while people are trying to empty out the show.. the other guys we're being held down and they we're screaming that they wanted to kill us.. some workers came over to my father to try and relax him.. He said he understood why he was so angy and he would have done the same for his daughter but that it was not worth it at this point.. The other family was thrown out of the park screaming and wailing the whole way out.. At dinner we explained to story to the rest of my family who didn't understand what was happening at that time.. My father just looked at me and said "that's my girl!! Never back down!!"

Unfortunately, a lot of people do not realize they are on hallowed ground when they are at WDW and behave as if they were at home, or at just another amusement park, which is truly disgraceful not only to them but to the other guests at WDW.

WTG...Stand your ground!

Well this didn't happen to me but to a woman I was speaking to at a Ross store last night...We were talking shoes(yes its a girl thing) and I told her I was getting a new pair for Disney, she said they had just come back from there, so of course we begin to talk that instead(yes Disney takes priority over shoes...lol) I asked her about the EMH's and if she felt it was worth it -she loved them, except when leaving, lots of crowds-------anyways.....She filled me in on the bracelet info and said they asked ppl in lines that didnt have them to please leave...most ppl didnt have a problem except of course the one lady who happened to be in front of them (no mind you this nice lady i spoke to had a 2 year old with her) When the CM told her he could not let her on the ride (splash Mt. I think she said) she started swearing loudly and threatened to report him and refused to leave because she had stood in line for 20 mins. The CM tried to explain that it was announced that the park was closing and was now only open to resort guests but she wouldn't listen. They actually had to have security remove her....geeeesh some ppl.
The nice lady at Ross told me they did have a good time and actually recieved a first in line pass for their party one of the days because they helped a little lost girl find her mom...go disney
LOL....yes we were talking a while. I was doing a test run on the shoes for about 20 mins....lol

Only twice for me:

First time: 1990, April. Magic Kingdom. Space Mountain. Annoying Magic ruiner - A DISNEY CAST MEMBER. I was about to go on space mountain when the Cast member, a young guy, a bit older than me at age 21 saw me with my pals getting on space mountain, I had a pretty, plain, nice skull on my black shirt. "OOHHH Death metal.. how scary." My response: "F-U and give me my F'n magic.. a-h'le." I wasn't into death metal.. the guy was a moron.

Second Time: One of the 55 visits to the Magic Kingdom in 1992. Pirates of the Carribbean. Annoying Magic Ruiner: A drunk jock. You all know the line que for pirates of the carribean is full atmosphere that really gets you in the mood for the ride. Imagine it with this drunk A-hole screaming "I'm goin' on F'n Pirates.. I want to be a pirate.. whuh .. shut up Mother F'er. Yo-ho yo-ho.. I'm a F'n pirate." The wole way in. Well by the time we got to the ride, some men in suits were waiting for him and properly escorted him out.

my last trip w/ what i'm sure is a pretty common occcurance...waiting on line for mission:space and a group of kids most likely on a day camp trip unsupervised(there was no counselor or teacher in sight)....they were probably in their early teens(12/13) being roudy and climbing all over the bars and screaming about how lame the ride was and how they weren't afraid...i was with my brother and we asked them to please stop screaming and calm down...of course they rolled their eyes and continued...the couple behind us was like, thank you for trying they are annoying us too! i understand that kids that age get worked up at being able to go on a ride w/o adults but i was a camp counselor for 5 summers and we took the kids on day trips too...we would never never let them go on a ride alone for that exact reason and we wouldn't want them getting lost or seperated from the group..i was also a camper on a teen travel and we understood that you behaved yourself(but still had a blast) otherwise you would be in serious trouble...anyway, as we were being seperated into parties to go into the briefing room, the cm asked them to calm down or else they would have to skip the ride..way to go!

also, as i'm sure many of you have heard at various times and parks...oh this is lame! this ride is dumb! seriously, it's about the disney magic and it's supposed to be fanciful and at times a little on the silly side..if you don't like it, don't visit...less time for me to wait on line ;)

You know what ticked me off once was a couple of young kids around 9-10, whom just jumped the fence and started running over the grass and flowers near Cinderella castle.. .not so much that they did it, but the mother didn't even yell at them for it. ... I yelled at them though.. :)
