Hi, fellow Long Islander!
You might start by reading this: http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/art...wer.php?aid=29
The store is pretty big, and has some nice unique merchandise. I've made several trips in to NYC for it and had a good time and spent quite a bit each trip. It's a better Disney fix than the local Disney Store :)
It's website is www.worldofdisney.com
i've been numerous times since i'm not too far from it...it's really nice...i like that they have the vintage disney clothing there.
Whats the difference between this and a disney store except for the fact they are owned by two different companies?
I think that basically its huge and it sells the same merchendise as the parks do.
I hope its more interesting then that
I had no idea it's been open since Oct. '04. I just came back from Disney World and there were some things I should have picked up while down there. I'll have to check this store out. I'm assuming it's just a little smaller than the store at the Disney Marketplace?
Yes, it's smaller than the Downtown Disney Marketplace one, but it's 3 floors of stuff.
And yes, Jarod, it's more interesting than an oversized Disney Store. They have character meet & greets, a special Cinderella program for kids, unique merchandise, an Art of Disney gallery, a build-your-own Mr. Potato Head stand, a media room to listen to/watch/try out CD's DVD's and computer games. And they have WDW merchandise as well.
At the heart of it, yes, it's a store. But it's a lot closer than Disney World for some of us, and they did a pretty good job of bringing at least the Disney shopping experience to us.
