AAA heads up

I priced an 8 day vacation on Disney.com at 2700.00 then requested a quote from AAA, they came in at 2300.00. AAA included park hopper passes while Disney.com did not.

$400.00 is alot of money.

Good point....I did some quick math (on the calculator) and the 2300 with 5 % tax (isnt FL 5-6%?) is like 2645 (give or take and close to the 2700) So it kinda evens out. I would call AAA directley and ask them to include the tax. I know they give some good discounts but that seems a lot.

Even if you don't want a package, you can get the AAA rate on the hotel most of the time. The AAA rate is generally 15%-20% cheaper than the rack rate, and you don't have to go through your AAA office to book it. When calling 407-WDISNEY, just specify that you want the AAA rate, and if it's available, they'll book you at that rate and just tell you to show your AAA card at checkin.

I generally book my hotel at the AAA rate and then convert it to the AP rate when they're released, as AP rate is usually about 5% better than AAA.

We are doing that this coming week so we can get the trip tiks for on the road. SOOO MUCH easier then printing out all that stuff from the internet. Which BTW, you dont have to be a member to print out trip tiks from their site, but I prefer not to use up like 30 pages of ink and paper. For that I might as well give them 50 bucks and be covered for the whole year. LOL

I always find a better deal on my own than I ever did through AAA. Best thing to do is stay tuned to boards like this and subscribe to the newsletters from allearsnet.com and mousesavers.com

January is "Disney Month" here at AAA in NY, with some special promotion days and a few little perks thrown in with your package. Nothing major, but if you're pricing trips it doesn't hurt to check all possible sources of discounts.

Certain types of rooms sometimes have better discounts on the AAA rate than the AP rate, I've found, but not always. For example, a couple years ago I booked two rooms at the Poly - a garden view concierge for us and a lagoon view concierge for my parents. The garden view room had a better discount with AAA, while the lagoon view did not. So no blanket "This is the best way to get the best deal" works!

I don't think you can get the dining plan though AAA though. Correct?

You can! As long as it is a Magic Your Way package, you can get it with the dining plan through AAA
