We don't necessarily "save" for a Disney trip, but we usually stay at a value resort to make it more affordable (our upcoming trip to CSR is a splurge for us!).
Before our trip, we cash out our Disney VISA points and use that gift card for souvenirs. Its like having a built in budget and prevents us from spending too much $$ when we're actually on vacation.
My parents use there Disney Visa for everything before trips. Also when my dad does overtime or stuff like that at work he gets these points then with the points he get Visa gift card. We all ask for Disney Dollars and money for the holidays before our trip. I take all the change I find and put it in my coin mug. You will be surprised how many coins I have after a week at school. We do a lot more to save for our trip

i think we do it the worst way. i always save money to buy the flights and then we wait for free dining and book the trip. THEN we decide to start saving for the trip since we have like months to pay it off.
We have "The Pig" which sits on the kitchen shelf. Any extra money that's left laying around the house is "gobbled up by the pig". It keeps my husband from emptying his pockets on the table, keeps the loose change all together, and really adds up quick. There's 120 bucks in the pig since we've gotten married. We also set aside 100 bucks a month into a vacation fund. Any overtime goes into the vacation fund. We ask for Disney money from our parents for Christmas. We're currently planning to go back in Feb. and Sept.-Oct.
I'm about as All-American as they come!
*Natalie*Must get a new trip on the books! I'm dyin' here!
My fiance and I save by putting all our spare change in empty jugs (some are Mickey coffee cans, old water jugs, banks, etc) and every pay period we each put what we think we can afford into one of her old purses. This stuff adds up quick, since our June trip we have over 550 bucks just saving like that. We also have a direct deposit setup to withdraw 50 dollars each from our accounts.
Since we are getting married on our next trip the 50 dollars went into our wedding fund. I think that this way works well for us because (even though we dont like to) if we need immediate cash we just take it back out of the purse. It all really ads up fast.

Not really saving, putting some away to lessen thewhen I book a stay. This is going to sound a bit silly but I charge myself to watch tv.
Mind numbing sitcom........money in the jar
Soccer match....money in the jar
Movie.......money in the jar
Disney movie....even more than usual money in the jar

I save any extra money I get outside of my regular paycheck to pay for trips, including tax refund, Overtime, and loose change. It all really adds up! Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to enjoy all this extra cash because I have had to put it toward paying off grad school, but I have been charging my grad school tuition money to my American Express card, along with anything else I can charge. That way, once I graduate, I will have at least 2 airline tickets paid for with the points I have accumulated and I can use them to spend a week in Disney when I graduate!
