Grocery Delivery at Resort

I need some help/advise from the forum members here.

I am thinking of having Von's/Safeway deliver bottled water/soda/snacks to the WDW resort I am staying at. I haven't done this in the past and so this is where I need help.

Is it possible to have a grocery chain (like Von's or Albertson's) deliver to your hotel room or even leave it at the bell desk? My wife and I like a glass of milk in the morning instead of coffee or juice. If they need to leave the groceries at the bell desk, is there a cooler for them to keep perishables in? Do I need to be at the room in order to receive it?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I did think of shipping a box, but the delivery may be a cheaper route.

That's true. We're not shipping any heavy or perishable food items.

You have 3 options in the WDW area, a supermarket and two stand-alone delivery services.

Gooding's is a local supermarket. Their method is you pick the day, and they deliver to your resort's Bell Services. You never see the Gooding's delivery person. BS will call you. If you're in, they'll be right there with your groceries. If you aren't in, they'll store your groceries, even keeping the cold stuff cold (which Gooding's separately bags and labels). The Gooding's website has a pretty limited list of items, but in reality you can order anything they stock on their shelves, except alcohol. I've used Gooding's twice and loved it both times. A common knock on Gooding's is that they are the most expensive market in the area. Expensive, maybe, but convenient ... definitely.

WeGoShop is a delivery service. I've not had any first-hand dealings with them. From what I understand, you must schedule an exact deliver time and be in your room ready for it. To me, that sounds awfully inconvenient. WeGoShop will shop at whatever store you want them to, and I think for an extra charge they'll shop at more than one place for you.

Garden Grocer is sort-of a hybrid of the above two. It's a stand-alone service. Their normal method is to schedule a time to deliver to you, but they are more than happy to arrange to just drop it all off with Bell Services. Garden Grocer CAN deliver alcohol. I wanted to use them last time, but I read on a different site that they were sold out for my arrival day. To make sure it wasn't a malicious rumor, I e-mailed to make sure. I received a call back from the owner (Brian), who told me it was true. He said he couldn't offer more deliveries than he already promised, and he didn't want to squeeze me in and risk that the quality of his service would suffer. Gotta love a guy who puts quality and customer service over profits!

I've never read any substantial complaints about any of the above three. Their websites URLs should be pretty obvious, but I'm unsure if I'm permitted to post links. Please post back if you have any further questions!

I have read a lot of things about Garden Grocer but have never tried them. Everything seems to be positive so I think I'll use them for my bottled water and breakfast foods this time around.

Talking 5 more weeks!

You can have Amazon ship directly to your resort and they will hold it for you until arrival (non-perishable items only). Check with your resort for instructions on shipping information and if there is any weight/size limit. The non-perishable milk in boxes works well if you can refrigerate after opening or get individual milk boxes (like juice boxes). Amazon offers free shipping on orders over $25 of qualifying items-worth checking into.

My update (though a little late): Our box of goodies arrived 2 days before we did. Everything worked out great. We'll ship again on our next trip down.

Garden Grocer was great I have used this before. It was much better than stopping along the way which I have also done. We arranged to have everything left at the front desk and when we arrived that night it was all set. I plan on using them again in Dec.
