1% back is average sometimes. Though the majority of my cards give me 1 point for each dollar I spend. Certainly not for every hundred. And that includes my Chase cards. Capital One is especially point-friendly.
You all covered the most important information here already.
GREAT thread!
It is important to not think of the Disney Visa as a credit card but rather as a point collector and really plan on when to use it throughout the year.
The 3x the point offers are usually in the late winter/early spring.
As soon as I saw it, I put my entire car/home insurance policy on it.
I put all gas and groceries on it and pay it off monthly.
Any home fixes go on the card: this year it was the dishwasher, cleaning the furnace, servicing the AC and cleaning the chimney.
Total rewards towards my trip in August: $110. Not too shabby. It is only me in my household so I can imagine it could be even more for a family. I always put my rewards toward tickets to ease the sting![]()
We have one and love it! Those rewards can add up fast! We basically pay everything we can on it and pay it all off at the end of each month. IMHO that is the only way it makes sense to use it. If you are charging it up and not paying it off each month, I just don't think the rewards money would outweigh the finance charges... We do get booklets every so often letting us know what the current perks are. We are going to the World in a couple of weeks, so I do need to check out what is available regarding discounts there...
Just imagine if they would let you put your mortgage payment on those cards! We could go to the World WAY more!![]()
