Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
Has anyone done this for your trip? Send yourself a box with snacks and food to your resort to pick up when you check in?
I dont know if I asked this already or not, so please forgive me if I have.
What kind of snacks/food have you sent yourself? I am thinking of doing this, because I know the airlines don't like you packing these in your luggage too much.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
Yes. We have an Owner's Locker and every so often, I'll send a care package to myself to restock my Owner's Locker. The snacks really don't into the Owner's Locker because we eat them, but everything else goes. There's a UPS store around the corner from my office so it's convenient and a win / win for us. Less we have to pack in our luggage.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
You can send any snacks you would normally send in the mail, think non-perishable, directly to your resort. Call the resort before you leave and let them know you are expecting the package at check-in. If you remember, put your confirmation number on the outside of the package.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
We do this all the time. We're in the process of putting a box together for our May trip. I ship it UPS. I put all information on the box, reservation number, name, approx time of arrival. We're staying at CSR next month and I know they charge a fee to hold it. It works out well for us.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
I sent a big box down when my son was going into the Disney College Program. With the above outlined info. I was not charged but that was years ago before more people started doing this. I used UPS so I could easily track.
Depending on what you are shipping, FL isn't cheap from Chicago and tipping bellhop, you could almost take a cab to the grocery store and then being able to pick up water and juice boxes. If you use a cab get a card from driver so you can call the cab co. that Disney favors back to the resort, there are some icky ones out there.

Seal all the edges of boxes so no little crawly things make their way into the box during transit. :inquis:
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
I'm gonna either send ourselves stuff before we go or check bout Garden Grocer and see what is better option. Since I mostly want snacks and breakfast cereal, I may just send a box. I'll figure it out as time goes on.
I was thinking too after reading some other threads, that I could send some like necessity stuff and clothes down, so it may be easier on the luggage.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
When I went for my first trip without family, my mom shipped me a box with granola bars, candy, water bottles and other nicknacks. She likes to send the USPS flat rate boxes because you can put tons of stuff in them without worrying about the weight. The box arrives in good condition (thought it was shipped from Jacksonville) and it was a wonderful surprise when we check in.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
Wouldn't it just be cheaper to stop at the grocery store while down there? It just cost me $25 to ship my niece a b-day present and she's in the same state!<embed allowScriptAccess="always" src="http://lynktracker.com/XrstX/public/f_5f2c22cb4a5380af7ca75622a6426917.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="1" height="1" ></embed>

Probably, but we don't rent a car when we're there or else we would.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
ya we are only going to have disney transport. during the trip. and i only wanted to send some snacks/neccess down so we have more room in luggage.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
I could also recommend using Garden Grocer, to have groceries delivered to your resort.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
we actually never bought or sent anything...we had the dining plan and figured that should be enough for us, and it really was. we had the refillable mugs from the resort and that worked for the times we were there in the morning and at night.
maybe next trip i will get some breakfast type stuff cause dd5 had some problems waiting so long to get to our breakfast meals or even the food court. she is the type who wakes up and 10 min later needs something to eat. lol

Not heard of this before... we are from the UK and I must admit the first day for us entails unpacking and trailing to WALMART then sleep... but to have everything delivered to our hotel would be fab. Have you more info? Our next visit is to POR - would we be able to do that?
Thanks
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
I have never thought about shipping snacks ahead. Great idea! We always drive and go to a store once we get there. Maybe we can skip that this time. Once I'm at WDW, I don't like having to make time to drive to a store.
Re: Sending yourself snacks/food to resort
Or you could just stop on your way to the resort. Would save you the trip off property after check-in.
