| Disney makes enough money just having a fast pass system. I'm sure they thought of this so that people could spend less time in lines and possibly more time shopping in their stores.

| D-Ticket Holder | I dont think that a hierarcical (sp?) or pay system shoud be implemented, but i do think that a system where resort guests get to get more than 1 at a time might be okay, because you would still have to trudge between attractions in different parts of the parks to get them, eating up some of the time. (i know ToT and RnR are neighbors and TT and MS are right next to each other and i'd be okay with being able to grab both of them at once.) I only go down when i know the parks are going to be empty anyway, so FP isnt really that big of a deal for me. whenever i get one, it is usually so that i can walk right back on the ride a second time W/o waiting anyway. and i ALWAYS stay at a resort on property, anyway, so it wont affect me that much. Quote:
There are plenty of ways to avoid crowds at WDW, but unlike DL, its more like the time of year than time of day or week. With DL, there is a HUGE population of folks right there that can run over for a afternoon or day and see all that they want to see. so certian days of the week and day, the locals take it for granted that DL is there. (let me know when these are, cause it seemed really crowed when i got to go a few years ago) whereas most folks dont schedule a day of afternoon to go to WDW, you have to schedule a week or 2 to see everything, 'cause its not like you can just pop over on the weekend to see it. also, In my observations, most uninitiated and unplanned guests at WDW tend to make the same decisions about what to see, in what order. most that arrive on sundays go directly to MK on monday and go in a Counter-Clockwise tour of the park. day 2 epcot, and so on. in other words, if you have no plan, you end up stuck with the rest of the folks who had no plan, and that tends to be quite a few of the folks that go. WDW requires homework for the novice and first time visitor, and I think most folks from the left coast forget that WDW is so big, when you get used to how compact and convineient DL is. there a more strategies to tour WDW than you really want to think about. As a former CM, i get lots of folks that ask me what its like before they go the first time, and i have to sit them down and ask a whole bunch of questions before i even begin to answer them. so, i would have to say, next time you go (and i hope you give it another chance) make sure you look at going during one of the off-peak times. sounds like you may have gone at christmas, and that is one of the busiest times of the year! read a few books and planning guides, or research some of the sites... they are easy to find, you already found one of the best! (allearsnet.com is a close second IMHO) Last edited by BryanFykes; 01-15-2006 at 12:00 AM.. | |

| I agree with the one time flat fee added to the base ticket price for Fastpass, that's the only way I could stomach it... as long as it's not ridiculous (20 extra bucks or something), then I'd be ok with it... |

| My personal opinion of this idea is that I don't like it. But I think it could work if they did it a different way, even though I heard that it's been confirmed that Birnbaum's was a misprint, and they were talking about the Magical Express. My idea is that people staying on site get a special Fast Pass deal. Either it's more Fastpasses, first chance at fast pass, or something different. Maybe even let the Annual Passholders get a special Fast Pass deal on slow days. I think that would work out cool. Charging an additional 30 bucks to get a fast pass, I think is a bad idea and I don't think many people would go for it. Especially when you consider my little family who will be going in June for a 10 day trip. 300 dollars a person, that's almost 1000 dollars for the whole trip. A bit steep for the use of a system that gets you to the front of the line...as long as there's still fast passes available. So charging, I say bad idea. Giving Annual Passholders and people who stay on property a special deal with the fast pass, I like. |

| I agree... people that stay on property should get special deals for Fastpasses, possibly even for free... would be another incentive to fill up the on-property resort rooms, which is what they're ultimately trying to do... On the misprint, does this mean they're considering doing away with/charging for the Magical Express checkin? I just did it for the first time this past October, and loved it... I hope they don't do away with it! |

| I think paying for a fastpass brings Disney down towards to the carnival, ala-carte mentality. The more "pay once and get lost in the magical world" the better for me. I don't belong to a Disney dining club, but I'd consider one just to not have to go through the major production of lines, pricing, money saving strategy, etc. when all you want to do is have fun.

| C-Ticket Holder | I agree with those who DISAGREE with a pay-for-fastpass. Maybe if it was a one-time thing, but we are already paying alot just to go to Disney World, its pretty expensive going to WDW from California. |

| I don't like the idea of paying for Fastpass system. The cost of tickets kept going up and I'm not in a mood to pay for that too. |
