I suppose we'll be paying to breathe the air in Disney next?

I agree with this suggestion...it makes the most sense. Disney is trying to maximize it's occupancy of guests on property, and this would be the best way to do that... it's a great added incentive for guests to stay on property rather than outside the park...

For those who live in Florida and don't stay on property.... YOU LIVE IN FLORIDA!!! You get to go to Disney anytime you want, just hop in the car and go! You don't need a fastpass, you can just come back the next weekend if the wait is too long... let us unlucky people who only get to enjoy Disney once a year (if we're lucky) get the most out of our rare trip by not having to spend our time in lines...

Those are some fighting words. Florida is a big state. I personally do not think a four hour trip each way is just hop in the car and go kind of trip. Yes it may be shorter than a lot of people but it is still a haul to do over and over just to be able to get on a ride. It's not my fault you live far away. AP holders at least should also get this privelege. Problem is like I've said before if AP and resort guests are all in the fast pass line it defeats the purpose of the fast pass. Everybody would be in that line.

Fighting words? This is a Disney site

You have a good point though... AP holders should have this access as well... maybe it would bump the cost of the AP up some, but it would be worth it...

The question then becomes, if they keep Fastpass as it is, where only a certain amount of tickets can be distributed per ride for one day, does that make it fair to people who pay the extra for the FP privelige, if they go to get a FastPass and they are out for the day? Maybe they could do a 'raincheck' or something, so the next time you go back, you automatically get one? It's a little convoluted, but I think it's something Disney should check into... it would certainly bump up the value of staying in their resorts and/or buying an Annual Pass...

Okay, I've decided to come back and really post something about this. My previous post was a joke and the thing is, nothing is like taking in the Disney aroma. lol I just might would have to pay for it. lol I'm known as the smeller in our Disney gang.

Anyway, back to the topic. I personally don't like the thought of paying for fastpasses. I mean, don't get me wrong I love FP and I think it's a great thing for EVERYONE to be able to use and enjoy. I like the fact that they don't charge. Some people don't have the extra money to be buying FPs and I think it's such a good thing for those who have yet to experience Disney World. It helps them at least get a couple of the big rides out of the way when the park is busy, busy, busy. My family and I go to Disney about 5 times a year and when we're there when the parks are super crowded I always feel bad for those who come for the first time during the week of Christmas and all those other busy times at WDW. I always think "at least they have FP to help them get some things accomplished."

I'm also saying "no" to offering it just to resort guest and I'm not just saying that because it wouldn't benefit me, because it would. We always stay in one of the Disney Resorts and let's be honest here, that would come in handy big time knowing only resort guest can get them, but I still think it's a nice little gesture that they offer everyone. I know that Universal has an ahead of the line (or something like that) pass. It cost money and you only get 6 of them (I think) and they also have the "express" passes for everyone. They may have bigger and better deals with that. I usually only go to Universal one day (if that..Disney for me), but some of my family were telling me about it. Now, I think that could be a pretty good idea. Something like that makes more sense to me, but only have so many passes. I could see them offering something like that to even just Resort Guest, but I think that and "extra magic hours" would be a little much. Gosh, the "extra magic hours" was the best idea ever! lol I love it!

Now that I think about it, the regular lines would be super duper long with FPs and ahead of the line passes. *sigh* Will it ever end?

I think having to pass for a fast pass is a bad idea. You already pay a fortune to get into the park, so I don't think it's fair to make you pay again just to get a jump on a line. While I love the convenience of the fast pass, I would rather wait in line than pay. I survived before fast pass came along and I'd survive again. I agree that it would also make it very elitist if they allowed precedence to the more expensive resorts. 47 days and counting until we go to visit the mouse!!

I like the fastpass system as it is at the moment. However, if there ever was a time when they decided to charge, I think it should be one fee to include one fastpass ride on those attractions with fastpass. They should not make it too expensive though. Universal charge too much for their Express system and when you take into account how much you have already paid for the tickets in the first place, for larger families it could become so expensive they could'nt do everything they wanted to.

I hate the idea. Universal does it and it irritates me to no end that just because you can afford to buy it, you can bypass everyone. We spend a lot of money for annual passes, food in the park and even souvenirs, we shouldn't have to pay for fast passes. In fact, I think Disney should reward their loyal passholder and give them fast passes. After all, we are the ones that frequent the parks more than vacation guests, etc.

I love the idea of a heircrhial system. Those who stay at deluxe resorts pay a fortune to enjoy Disney.
It would be nice to have a perk and keep the bottom feeders in the stand by lines

NO WAY!! I live for fastpasses! I can't pay for all of them. Well, I dunno actually. I mean, I barely ever use them unless of emergencies. So, I'm kind of in between indifferent and HATE IT

Personally, I don't like the idea of paying for FPs and if they began charging I would not be one to cough up the money. It's just not worth it to me. I grew up going to Disney at least once a year and every trip we waited in lines to go on everything. If I survived when I was a kid, I can survive it as an adult. I rarely use FPs as it is, only if a line is ridiculously long and the return time is reasonable. As an Orlando resident, WDW would end up losing money from me if I were to use the FPs more often. My mom visited last month and we went to spend the day at MK. After using a FP only once we were completely finished with the park (having gone on absolutely everything we wanted to do, and only skipping about 5 attractions) we were finished by 5:30. Instead of spending money on a Disney dinner, we simply went back to my apartment to eat instead. If we had used more FPs, we would have been out of there even earlier and maybe not have even snacked at all.

Besides, if they want to charge for this, they need to run it more efficiently first. Why can they not figure out how to time the Peter Pan passes so that they don't get backed up all the time?! And I'm beginning to see a similar problem with Soarin'.

i think if there was a set fee on entrance, it would be worthwhile, but, when thinking about food, drink, and general spending, it does seem alot, especially when you've already paid for a ticket. When you have paid for flights from England, you dont want to be spending more money than you expect. lol.
