Challenge for a Ride Thru of Living Seas with Nemo

On the last podcast, Lou requested that someone record a ride-thru of the Living Seas with Nemo and Friends when it is open to AP and DVC members between October 13-15.
Well, we are going Oct 14-22, and we are AP and DVC members, so it goes without saying that we're going to see Nemo and his buds (Well, I said it anyway). I'd be willing to record the ride thru, but what do you need? I have a digital camcorder. Will that work?

I'm even willing to jump thru a hoop or two for a T-shirt. (I already have both trivia books.)

This is seriously shunned upon by Disney as you're not supposed to do this during previews. I wouldn't break their rules if I were you and it shouldn't be encouraged by Lou.

How is this different than taking pictures or recording video?

It's not. You aren't supposed to do it during previews. They can take it up and hold it at the front of the park until you leave. This happened a lot when Everest ran previews, and for good reason. The point of the preview is to make sure everything is running properly and also give us a sneak-peak, which they don't have to do. Why would they want to video, pictures and audio leaked onto the internet before the public has a chance to experience it? They lose money if people decide not to visit to see for themselves because they saw it on the video, pictures or audio. None of the three ever do it justice. They are incredibly strict about this 99% of the time. Trust me, it's not worth the hassle. Enjoy the ride for yourself and let everyone that isn't there figure it out for themselves. Just be glad we are allowed to film when the rides are open since they could keep us from doing that also. People still disobey the rules and do what they want anyways.

if i had my camcorder last year and actually went over to everest i would've got a tape!!

and here is a question
if they don't wan't you to take pics or video tape anything
then why don't they post signs that say it is strictly prohibited???

Uh... at one point they did have a sign saying not to. Even when you showed the CM your pass and ID they also said not to. They even say you can be asked to leave the park, although I'm sure that wouldn't happen.

Break the rules if you want, people do it all the time anyways with recording when they aren't supposed to and using flash photography when they aren't supposed to. It usually ruins the enjoyment of the ride for the people around you, but what do you care, your getting it on camera, right!? (By 'you' I mean as a generalization, not you personally Dennyha.)

Why exactly would you want to get this on tape anyways? It's a lot more enjoyable when you can relax and enjoy the ride yourself rather than trying to get everything on tape for people on the internet to see.

I don't take movies for myself.I do enjoy listening to the ride-thru's on the podcasts. Makes me look forward to my next trip to the Mouse. I can't imagine listening to a ride-thru and deciding that I didn't want to go see it. After all of the ride thru's I've enjoyed, I just thought it would be nice to "throw" one back for others to enjoy. If they have restrictions on recording it, I wouldn't do it. I just never heard of that restriction before.

It's usually only during the Soft Opening Previews when they won't let you record for the reasons I explain above. After that you should be okay unless they have a permanent notice out. They may not EVER let you take flash photography on this ride since it would interfere with some of the show scenes in the aquarium, but that's not factual.

I'm not sure how you haven't heard that you aren't allowed to film or take flash photography before. They say it in the ride audio on Haunted Mansion and in the Country Bear Jamboree about flash pictures. It is also on a few signs at the front of various attractions. Please just be courteous to others and don't do anything you wouldn't want others to do while you are trying to enjoy the attraction (which counts talking during the stretching room at the Haunted Mansion).

*** My personal thoughts & 2 cents - not meant to give anyone a difficult time.***
I haven't seen this rule either and I don't see the difference from taking it during the preview and taking it once it opens. I for one try everything for myself regardless of the clips, picts, and listening to the ride throughs. I also don't see how Disney loses money as people don't buy their tickets to a specific park for one day for one ride. If someone is only going to one park for one ride during a trip to Disney and choose not to go to that park then my guess is they are really wanting to go to Disney to begin with. I look forward to seeing the ride through that someone may get because my 'quick trip' is the weekend before the soft opening so we can go to MNSSHP. I am 1001% bummed that I am missing the opening with us having AP's. If a ride through clip is available I can't wait because it gives me something to look forward to in May 2007. So, whomever the lucky individual may be THANK YOU ahead of time!

Hey, I'm just telling you what I know as fact, which is a lot more accurate than what some people will tell you. I can PROMISE you that in the past there have been rules against recording during CM, DVC, and Passholder previews. It was so strictly enforced that CMs doing it could be grounds for termination.

Disney makes the rules, and if they don't want you doing something they can make you stop by removing you from the park. It is a privilege to be able to enjoy the attraction before everyone else, so follow the rules and appreciate it, don't try to be the system just to please a few people on the internet that aren't lucky enough to go. If they go ahead and tell you you can film, then go right ahead, but in the past they haven't let people film.

Fine with me. I'm just trying to help them realize the facts, even if they aren't the ones they want to be true.

I agree with Sledge, if there are restrictions on taping or pictures, or if you are taking away from someone elses' experience then I am not for recording. Even though I do enjoy listening to ridethroughs I dont think they should be recorded if is against rules. Disney makes all of these regulations for a reason.

Please don't record ride-throughs. Terrorists could use that secret information to strike deep at the heart of Epcot. One can only imagine the sort of horror that would be wraught were al Qaeda to get their hands on valuable Clamobile-related schematics. First the Living Seas and then eleven stops around the World Showcase on a worldwide tour of terror!

No place would be safe, with the exception of Mission Space, because everyone knows terrorists don't like rides that spin like that. It makes them all sick to their stomachs.

So please. Be a patriot. No ride-throughs. Think of what Sam Eagle would say.
