It wasn't written during the American Civil War era, if that's what you mean (one of songwriter Irving Gordon's works, so it was most likely the 1940s-'50s).
One tune that did have me going for the longest time was "Ashokan Farewell," the fiddle theme from the old PBS Civil War documentary. Seems that bit wasn't nearly as old as it sounded.......

This has got to be one of my favorite songs. It's just so hauntingly beautiful and soooo embodies in lyric and feel how the war ripped the nation apart.
