This is great..I love seeing this kind of stuff.
Saw this ABC Footage, posted on YouTube today on another sight. Amazing.
Magic Kingdom, Contemporary and at the very end the start of the Poly.
Based in Feb 1971. Shows you how quickly it all came together.

Pretty cool.
As I thought about this...You see how quickly construction went for the MK and the Contemporary in a few short months. Makes you wonder how it now takes 4 years to complete an addition to Fantasyland.

That's really cool. It's neat to see it before it all opened.

Awesome video Gabe!! I love the old WDW footage. There was one on YouTube ( that I'll look for and try to post) that had similar footage. It stuck in my mind because of the stunning camera shots from a helicopter looking over the Seven Seas Lagoon before it had any water in it and over the MK with all the construction going on.![]()
I posted a picture a year or so ago too without water in the Liberty Square River Boat attraction. I love stuff like this.
A few weeks ago I bought a book published in 1983, The Epcot Center, it is sooo cool.

Gabe, here is the YouTube link: Magic Kingdom Construction 1971 - YouTube . It is incredible. I love seeing the steel frame of the castle, the wooden frame of the Haunted Mansion and the aerial view of the empty Seven Seas Lagoon. I get a kick out of seeing the old 50's and 60's cars, trucks and work vehicles. It's hard to believe it's been so long since the original construction.![]()
Wow, Just Wow. It amazing seeing the monorail and train being truck'd on in also. I love the reminder sign for opening day.
My Dad was a contractor, he would have loved this, while he has the Hancock, Woodfield Mall and Sears Tower on his resume, WDW would have been amazing. My Dad took me to all these job sights when I was a young little girl, so I love construction pictures. Thanks for sharing!

And here is Liberty Square Riverboat without her water, just cars and trucks, old at that.

Thanks for posting the pic, Gab. Amazing to see how see how deep the Rivers of America really is.
That's one of my favorite pictures of how different things look when the magic is removed... or in this case... water!
What was particularly interesting to me in that one when i saw the first time was the track... I had no idea the Riverboat ran on a track until I saw the pic. Love that stuff.

I can't say I ever thought about how the boat circled until I saw the track either. Makes sense. The thought of CM's driving a big boat on a tight pond, good imagineering.

Me again... sorry this video has really got my attention!
At the 4:00 minute mark... is that the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House? I can't think of any other "tree" like that over there so it's got to be... what has my attention is the fact that I don't think I ever realized the framing that was under it. It looks so similar to the upside down oil platform they used for the Tree of Life over at DAK. Too cool!
