It's a Small World

The DW and I were almost asleep last night when the phone rang at 11:40 PM. Whenever you get a call at that time of night you never know what it is going to be about. Happily, it was the DS calling from Hong Kong Disneyland (they are 13 hours ahead, so it was 12:40 PM Monday). He and the DDIL are in Hong Kong (16 hour non-stop flight, 7787 miles, from Chicago on United) for an 8 day vacation (we are dog sitting, lucky us) and they knew I would be upset if they didn't visit. He didn't talk too long as it was $2 a minute. The park is very small and spotless, even more so than WDW, if that is possible. He said the buildings are ultra modern, but you can still tell they are Disney. There is a lot of construction, especially for It's a Small World. The phone connection was excellent and I could even hear the background music, albeit with a Chinese touch. The prices are a little higher than at WDW, A one-day ticket is about $38 (HK $295), and if you are driving the parking is about $15 US. I told him to bring me as many souvenirs as possible. Will write more on their return to Chicago on Saturday.

That sounds cheaper then WDW (at least the ticket part). I think a one day ticket at WDW is around $75.00. $38.00 sounds like a bargin to me. Hope they're having a good time and a safe trip home. Would love to see pics.

The current park has only a fraction of the rides and attractions of the Magic Kingdom, and only one "E" ticket attraction, Space Mountain. I am sure when the new rides and attractions come online the ticket prices will rise accordingly. Yes, I am looking foward to seeing their pics. Will share when I get them.

In total, there are currently 27 attractions in Hong Kong Disneyland, compared to 44 in Disneyland Park in Paris, 45 in Tokyo Disneyland Park and Florida's Magic Kingdom, and 65 in California's Disneyland Park.
