Cool Pin Game at Mouse Gears

Okay well for anyone that likes to trade pins this is a cool game to check out. On my past trip to WDW in July 2006 my brother and i stopped at MouseGears in Epcot to see if some cast members had any cool pins. Well the cast members told us to come back at 5 to play a pin trading game so we did. They set up this huge board with thousands of pins on them and show you the board for about 30 seconds you have to look at all the pins and you can pick two (at the most) to trade at the end of your 30 seconds. You then give them one of your pins and it goes up on the board. Its alot harder than it sounds because there are so many pins and so little time. Only one person gets to look at the board at a time so the next person in line cant check them out before their turn. My brother and I had a blast playing!

Pin Trading Pointers

Some of our best pins have come from:
  • cashiers at small shops (not much people traffic)
  • cashiers at the resort gift shops
  • custodians and they really appreciate folks stopping to chat with them!
  • the Epcot game at 5 p.m. mentioned in the reply above
  • our daughter gets to trade off green lanyards and they have really good ones saved for the kids (BTW green lanyards are kids only)
  • guests standing in line for transportation back to the resorts at night
  • the "management" types that walk around in button downs with clipboards. We've had especially good luck near Splash Mtn. There must be offices near there behind the scenes. I think people are afraid to approach them but they were really nice to us and they had really great trades!
The worst selection of pins are found on the CMs that work in the busy shops and restaurants like Main Street and in Innoventions. I think those lanyards are pretty "picked over" because of the volume of people moving through.

We are in no way "pros" at pin trading! We only started 3 years ago. It's terribly addictive!
