It pays to learn at least basic pleasantries in as many tongues as you can think of (and depending on the lingo, maybe even a few more advanced phrases like "calm down," "don't shoot," or "don't push, we have plenty of food").
I take a deck of cards and Adam and I play Speed War in line
I always talk to the other person/people in my party about our plans for later in the day, the ride ahead, etc. If the line is really long, we end up talking to people around us
I tell my family useless info about the ride that they dont have to or wanna know.
or I stare down the kids that are moving the chain that Im leaning on.
it gets them to stop.
ha ha ha
I just talk to myself or my parents...
Depends, I usually talk to my family, but I remember one time I was sitting in the Soarin' queue all by myself and I brought my copy of the Trivia book (before Soarin' added trivia of their own) and was sitting on the floor reading it.
Lots of people have suggested talking about what to do next, but we always talk about what we have just done/seen/eaten!
I see far too many people who have some kind of 'tick list' and just forget about an attraction as soon as they have 'achieved' it!
I was like that when I was younger. We went down every second year for Christmas up until I graduated high school, now I haven't been there in about 9 years (yikes!). I got on a ride then went right for the next one, never stopping to appreciate anything. I'm taking my DH and my 2 DDs for their first time in November and have been planning the trip for 2 years now. I didn't realize how much there was to Disney and how much I had missed, even though I've been there 1/2 a dozen times. I almost feel like I'm going for the first time again :mickeykid
Ok, theres my little sentimental speech for today ;) :yahoo:
I thought about listening to an ipod while in line, but thought of the great sounds of Disney I would miss. I usually talk and laugh with my family. I also admire all of the great landscaping, while in an outside line. When I can see the riders exit, I LOVE to look at the happiness beaming from their faces, or the messed up hair of the riders coming off of Aeorosmiths super cool coaster. I also love the feeling ,while in line you turn the corner and their is a huge gap and you can walk full steps.lol
Usually I like to read my guide book or look at my autographs. Oh, Pal Mickey also provide about 5 minutes of entertainment for me. xD
I bring my Hidden Mickeys book and my sister and I try to find them in the ques, but we usually give up and look at the answer.
I also just bought the first WDW Trivia Book (I've had the second one for over a year) and I'm trying to save some of it play while in the ques.
talk to ppl in the queue. its fun and pays off.
one time i got stuck on the tower of terror with the two brit girls i started a convo w/ in line. fun day. pretty brits too! good times...
Bring like a handheld game, or if it doesnt kill your battery, you can try playing games on the cell phone. Or if you get signal on the cell, you can "bore dial" or randomly text your friends.
