I have almost a decade on you but your memories are likely more vivid than mine are as we only went down south once a year and my Dad had a short attention span for the parks. We would spend a month in FL every year from the time I was a babe but mostly on the beaches of Ft. Lauderdale, later in St. Pete.
I do miss the old Disney while still attached to whatever this current is though I never use to find Disney as annoying as I do now.
We did at least an annual trip for 2 weeks at a time for about 15 straight years in the moderate hotels. Things were neater, less broken and a tad friendlier. If something was broke, it was fixed by morning most of the time. I don't remember all these down times like they have now. When the ticket and transportation center went down earlier this year it was the first time the entire system crashed including both of the back up systems. It shows you they are not paying attention to things like back-up conditions any longer. When the first monorail had seen its day, they replaced it. When buses were off schedule, they sent another, days gone bye. I would have never fell in love with Disney as a family vacation must with Future World as is or DHS being a half day park again. Yep I miss the old Disney. My DS just did the Mermaid in Disneyland. He said it is nice but not the E dark attraction everyone is drooling over for FLE. He is sure the Disney Geeks will go gaga over it, just because that is what they do, but said it is not a Splash Mountain quality attraction. Now Cars he was impressed with that new land. So ya, I miss the old Disney when things were always done right.

Thanks. My Disney interest has waned. It's not the same for me anymore. All you posted was true. Everything is so overtly commercial. It wasn't like that before. It used to be much classier. In Disney's heyday the guest was the most important thing...now profit is clearly more important than anything else.
Re: Who Remembers These Classic Souvenirs?
You summed that up nicely, Disney isn't as classy as it once had been.

I know, right? My mom and bad were not as big Disney fans until we went for the 1st. time as a famly in 2002. So we don't have that kind of stuf.
