This week I scanned and uploaded about 240 Walt Disney World Photos to my Flickr account from my trip, in March....March of 2001 that is!
March 21-25 2001 - a set on Flickr
There were construction walls all over the place, as you might expect in the off-season, there was the Construction of Allladins Magic Carpets, the BTMRR Fastpass area, the teacups were under wraps also, over at the studios there was the beginnings of the big HAT, at Epcot there was a refurbishment plywood wall painted to look like an ancient stone wall in Italy, also, a huge stretch was walled off between the outpost and Germany, presumably in preparation for the Flower and Garden Festival, there are probably 100 photos of monorails in this trip report, two of which managed to catch the fact that one-quarter of Epcot's parking lot was filled by a giant tent and bleachers (outside the tent) that reached up AT LEAST even with the height of the monorail track, I'm looking for the name of the science competition that was held there so I can add that tag to the searchable terms attached to these photos. I also took pictures of several of the live entertainment acts, since this was back in the age of film photography (at least I was still using film) many of these tended to be "one shot of the group" type shots, but I made some exceptions too, American Vybe got several photos, Barrrage a high-energy band that used a lot of violins in their act over at the America Gardens theater was another exception, and then there is the best group of photos I have ever taken of the Main Street Philharmonic, here though is one of those one and done shots a nice view of piano man Mark, the guy who not only fills in for Jim on his days off at the Magic Kingdom, but also plays at the Boardwalk on selected evenings as Musicale Mark. Note that although the trash can behind Mark is the old kind, I noticed that several of the trashcans in the Magic Kingdom on this trip were of the newer "medalion" design we see today. It's been a real joy going through these old photos and I look forward to sharing many of them here.

Around here, However, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because were curious... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths...- Walt Disney
