How do people make money selling pins on ebay?

You can find pins for under the retail of $6.95 very easily there, including new pins. Unless they somehow buy them in bulk for cheaper prices (though I don't imagine this is the case), how do people make money selling pins for $5 each minus the 8% ebay takes out?

Re: How do people make money selling pins on ebay?

While I am not a "pin" fan, I have had friends that have gotten caught up in the pin hype while in Disney buying pin after pin. They really didn't have the collecting interest that some enthusiasts have. They sold their pins at a loss on Ebay just to re-coup some of their investment.
    Some people are like Slinkies.

They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.

Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.

Re: How do people make money selling pins on ebay?

I do know several folks on the BAY that make a nice profit reselling Company D overstock pins that they buy for $2.50-$5 each from the bargain bins. Company D is cast Member or alumni only.

Now thay are not going to sell a LE 100 Tink Holiday pin that was on DisneyStore.Com but open rack and overstock LE 1200-3000 pins - sure.

I just bought 20 Gold Card Figment pins from a friend that passed them through to me @ cost ($4.50) each - the original stickers on the backer cards were $12+ each - IF I sold them on eBAY I would probably start them @ $6 with $3 shipping since shipping 1 pin is like $1.50.

It's about VOLUME at that point not huge per piece profit.......

My opinion only of course.....your mileage may vary.
