My kids started collecting the pins several years ago. I remember a CM telling my son that he was one short of a pretty rare set. He happened to get the last one on that same trip and then was getting ready to trade it. I was about to stop him but my husband gave me a dirty look and I decided at that point that I could not get involved. If I did it would no longer be fun for them. So I DO not collect them. I am the type who would get totally addicted to this. So, I let the kids trade them for fun and I do not even know if we have any rare ones. But THEY have several hundred, some are even the same pins. One visit my son decide he was going to see how many of the same pin he could get. Every time he found one he was as excited as if he had found a hidden treasure.
I love pin trading. I think I've traded pins on 2 of my last 3 trips to WDW. At first, I was snatching up all the cast member pins I could see, but then I decided that was silly because I didn't necessarily like them. Now, I just like to look for unusual ones or ones that depict my favs. I've got one in particular that I love. It's kind of big (and sort of heavy), and it's gold. It's Captain Hook's ship.
I have 46 pins, thats my dads and mine combined. I collect I don't trade because I only buy a pin that I like. My dad got a dream pin in 06 for helping a cast member move something, she said "I would like to give you this because I would have not been able to do that by myself" I forgot what he helped with.

Ok first let me say that I started pin trading when i was last down in the happiest place on earth in July 2007. I was not planning on this but I was amazed at how many pins and how awesome each one of them are. Anyway I left disney with about 18 pins. Since then I have managed to collect about 60 more pins. I shop mostly on Ebay, I have found some real bargins you just have to becareful that you are buying authentic pins. I find myself always looking for pins. I seem to have a problem, I think it is called DPA (Disney Pin Addict) lol. There must be more people like me around, maybe even a support group. I have placed 23 bids on Ebay today I hope i win atleast some. I do not even go into New York City often because I am afraid to get near the WOD store. I even have gotten my brother and sister in law into collecting. Ok so just a post with a chuckle in it. Id like to hear from other Disney Pin collectors. Do you collect a certain character, park etc? I can't make up my mind, I have all kinds, monorails (if you saw my post on monorails I love them to) mickey, minnie, goofy, right now i seem to be collecting several chip and dale.
I never got into pins until my last trip in November, when I started buying the ones that had "special" meaning, like cools ones from my favourite attractions and favourite characters. I also got my first limited edition pin, from MVMCP! Very cool! And I bought one of those portfolio things...the dark leather one. I love to shop for and buy pins! Its a dangerous addiction though...so many pins, so little cash!!
I put mine into shadowboxes with black felt, and they push right in to the cork, so they hang nicely in the living room... I can't bring myself to trade any of them though...
I'm addicted to Disney in so many ways, from podcasts to forums. I'm glad that I've been able to resist the pins...so far.

First of all, I would like to say thank You for all the Happy Birthdays last month! Back to the subject, I have gone over 900 pins.

I just added 3 more to my collection which puts me at maybe 95 Stitch pins and about 10 of other themes.
I did not do My latest count, but after last months Pin trading during our last trip, I may have climbed over the 1000 pin collection. I try not to think of how much money I could have saved by not getting started, cause I really Love both buying and trading for these pins alot!![]()

We hail thee, Carolina...
I have about six pins right now but I just started collecting on the last day of my last trip to disney. And I only collect holiday themed pins (I have christmas, halloween, and valentines day). I can't wait to look for more on my next trip. On my way back to new york I discovered that the disney store in the airport had some of the pins I had trouble finding in the park.
