Buying pins off of Ebay question

Hello! I'm nost much of a pin trader, but my DD6 really enjoys doing it when we go to WDW. I was trying to finder her some less expensive pins to trade for our next trip. I'm currently watching at auction on Ebay right now from a guy in Argentina. When I asked him to please confirm that the pins were tradable with Disney cast members this is what he said :
Hi!
Yes, In this collection, they are trade in disney the gold pins, the pins black no (for collection).
Greetings
I'm assuming he means that the pins with a gold outline are tradable and the ones with a black outline are not. And this is the auction description:
You're bidding for Disney Characters collection pins, they are 50 nice pins of excellent quality and very difficult to find because is made exclusively in Spain with the official Disney license.
You Can see in the Picture the Pins have an excellent state are totally new, 50 Pins with different Disney Characters for collecting.
All pins they have the official seal behind © Disney - Non lose this opportunity is Offer Unique, Pins Difficult to obtain.
I just want to make sure that when we go to Disney they won't tell us that we can't trade them.
Thanks for the help!!

Hey Lori,
Sounds like the auction you are looking at are what they call "Sedesma" pins - which simply means they are made in Sedesma, Spain. The quality of these pins are far less than those you would purchase direct from Disney, and although most would be tradeable in the parks - most avid pin traders/collectors do not place much value in those pins.
You would most likely run into some cast members who dispute whether or not they are tradeable - but according to official Disney pin trading guidelines - as long as the pin you are trading has a Disney copyright on the back of the pin - it should be accepted by the trading cast member. As far as I know, mostly all of the Sedesma pins are indeed stamped with the Disney copyright.
So while you may be saving a bit of money, in the long run - from my experience with these pins - you may encounter some issues from cast members. If you do purchase them, be sure to prepare yourself to stand your ground when it comes to certain cast members accepting them. Like I said - as long as the pins have the Disney copyright stamped on back - they are tradeable.
Good Luck!!
Joanne

I would not trust overseas traders because you do not have a legal leg to stand on if you are cheated. Kids tend to get away with more rule bending and even breaking than adults. Some of the best pin sharks are kids.
Disney policy has been to accept any pin that has a disney stamp on the back unless they know the pin is a fake. My friend was a super trader cast member and I learned a lot from her. You need to talk to pin traders in your area to see if there is a source for cheap pins. Sedesma pins are not rare and usually stay on lanyard until a person who collects that character takes it or a kids wants it for being cute. I have never seen a trouble with cast members and those pins.
I wish I could see the auction to better tell you what you are getting. Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

You are paying $68 + for 50 pins. The price is reasonable but as stated Cast Members sometimes ignore rules and sometimes make up their own versions of rules but I have never had any trouble trading them to cast members. The red skunk is from Bambi when they get Twitterpated (fall in love and blush). Some people want him because he is different. The Stitch were sought after by people who were stitch fans and did have a little value. Tinks are wanted by kids and you might even get a store pin for one of the sedesmas.
Since you know you are getting cute pins, I would go up to $90 total including shipping and handling. Other sites seem to be around $2 a pin. Also check with Ebay for individual pins for under a dollar as that might be a better bet. Sometimes you can find auction and cast pins cheap but watch for pins which are actually buttons.

Re: Buying pins off of Ebay question
Be carful of the dollar pins on ebay, I bought two and they both ended up being fakes even though they were from a top seller.

Re: Buying pins off of Ebay question
I have never purchased pins from an over seas seller.. There are plenty of seller that are located in Florida and California that I have never had issues with. I agree with everyone else though, I believe Disney accepts pins with the copyright stamp. Good luck with it!

I am looking for pins that they sell in the park, but it seems like the Disney website has very few of those. Any suggestions?
