Unhappy Minus one family member now

DH's gram passed away Friday evening. She had a massive heart attack during the day and when his mom went over to her house at dinner time she could tell something was wrong so they took her to the hospital. I think within an hour or so her heart stopped and she went to heaven to join her husband. We all knew that when gramma decided it was her time nothing was going to stop her. The nurse was hooking her up to something and she told the nurse to stop what she was doing. And that sounds just like her.

Erin seems to be okay but this is the first death that Cassidy has to experience. She was really upset Friday night but seems okay now, but I think that's because she doesn't want to talk about it. I think at the viewing tonight it'll hit her hard. I'm glad that we take her to Sunday School and church because she understands that when one dies they go to heaven and I think that is going to help her.

Pixie dust please for my little princess.

    Lori

My condolences to you and your family. Losing a family member is always hard. It may be the circle of life and all, but it's a pretty grown-up part of the cycle.

I'm sorry for you and your families loss Lori. One reassuring thing is that she was acting like herself til the end. I'll be thinking of your family tonight.

Sorry to hear of your family's loss. Thoughts and prayers are will you all. Cassidy will be okay - kids may grieve differently than adults, but I think on some levels they have a better understanding deep down than adults do. I can strongly recommend the book "What's Heaven?" by Maria Shriver. It helps children answer the questions they may have, and I think it is also very comforting for the adults, too.

Thanks everyone. Cassidy was okay at the afternoon viewing but when we went back in the evening she had a major meltdown. I got her calmed down and after awhile so was okay. She would still cry a little here and there but I figure it's good for her to cry. Her cousin went over and said goodbye to her and told her he was going to miss her and that was it. No tears or anything, which really surprised me because he was closer to her that Cassidy. Cassidy has a soft heart like me. We cry at everything. I hope she'll be okay at the funeral tomorrow. I figure she's going to be so mentally exhausted by Wednesday that I think I'll let her sleep in and take her to school whenever. Heck, maybe I'll let her have a day off.

    Thanks again!

Good thoughts coming from across the pond for you and your family. And I agree, giving her the day off is a wise choice.
