fingers and toes crossed everyone involved will be ok
I have a big request for prayers and pixie dust. On July 30, 2010 in Wisconsin Dells, WI, a 12 year old girl from Parkland, FL was dropped 100ft to the ground landing on her back. She broke her back and neck in the fall and was Med-flighted to UWMadison hospital where she remains today in serious but stable condition.
This accident hits close to home because I used to be an employee of this park where the incident took place and I am also the brother of the individual that released the girl to fall. My brother is beside himself with grief and sadness.
If you could just say a prayer and send some pixie dust for everyone involved especially the 12 year old girl, I would appreciate it greatly.

Oh My. I have been following this story.Dells is a weekend trip for many in my part of Illinois. While the father has been besides himself, who wouldn't, I cannot imagine what your brother is going through. My best friends DD was run over by Goofy's Barn Stormer. The CM was loading and the person at the helm hit the activate button and the roller coaster ran the CM (friends kid) over. Sadly it happens. Human error. Much different than calling the shots for the Monorail from a Perkins Restaurant. That type of accident is beyond human error.
Prayers for both the girl and your brother.
Prayers for the girl, your brother, and all affected by this tragedy.

Update
I read a story about this young lady. She was transferred to FL and will soon be released to go home soon. While her road to recovery is far from over by Gods grace she is making progress.
Out of ranking of muscle strength, from what I understand, she was at a zero out of 5, 5 being normal, she has worked very hard to a two so far. While a two still has her in a motorized wheelchair, she is making progress. Her spinal cord was stretched, not severed. Which lends hope. So keep the prayers going.
The company that created the ride, which seemed to lack a safety check, to prevent this accident has gone out of business. Rightfully so, or so I believe.
Will still keep praying for your brother too.
I'm glad to hear the girl is going home.
May God's mercy and grace be upon the girl and your brother.
We will be praying.
My brother learned of Teegan's progress and her miracle of leaving the hospital...today is his birthday and he said with a tear in his eye, "I couldn't have asked for a better present." http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/...shtml#comments

i just have a question.. does that ride have like a safety lock.. you would think they would make a lock or tigger that would stop you from being dropped unless this net is lock to this certain safety point.. it sounds like poor saftey design on the parks end.. they shouldnt have anything there that can have a oops like that.. because this poor lil girl has a rough way ahead of her.. or could have died and now you brother has to live with this and i read some of the posts on the news site.. people thinking he shouldnt be back at work.. etc.etc. etc...
the real truth is the ride shouldnt funtion unless the net is inposition

You are correct Chrissy.
There have been some accidents at WDW too.
Generally there are upgrades after accidents. The whirly ride at AK and look at the monorail. Sometimes people have to blame a human where there is a design flaw. The trams are getting doors too. Some people find it silly, I find it to be an extra layer of safety.
My BF daughter was working on the Barnstormer. She was checking lap bars and for whatever reason the CM pushed the start button while she was still checking lap bars. Her foot got caught between the platform and the overlap of the car and she was dragged. Fortunately she was ultimately OK after a few months.
Happy Birthday to your brother. My thoughts and prayers are still with him.
i feel so bad for all parties involved.. this is just a bad thing all the way around

I have followed this story for a while now. There were lots of prayers floating out over this accident.
This weekend the girl, now 14 returned to Wisconsin to Madison Hospital. She is out of her wheelchair and walking with the aid of a walker. She even took a few steps without her walker. It has been almost 2 years, has a way to go, however she continues to make progress.
Some people are like Slinkies.
They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.
