Well Im glad this post was started back up again. My family and I will be staying at CBR for the first time this December. We tried to get POR but they were booked. We are a family of 8 so we have two rooms. I'm not sure where they will be but I know we didn't request a close room so I'm sure we will have some walking to do. What are your favorite things about this resort? Do you have any tips for us?
We have visited Disney *many* times but since this is our first trip to this particular resort I thought I'd look for some suggestions. Thanks!!![]()

We stayed at CBR twice back in the mid-nineties. Really enjoyed it, and I'd be eager to return now that its been refurbed with the Nemo and Pirates overlays. I would also agree about paying for the preferred room. In most cases, we don't bother. But the way that the CBR is laid out, I think the extra couple of bucks are worth it to be closer to Old Port Royale.
The thing is, we get there only every few years, and there are so many other great resorts to explore and experience... who knows if we'll ever make it back ?
I am so very excited. We are going to be staying here in a Pirate Room for our Honeymoon. I am looking forward to the beaches, the hammocks, and the feel of the entire resort. I am also a little apprehensive as to the size. I know after walking all day at the parks the last thing I want to do is trek it all over my "home". But traveling in Oct (only 4 days left until we are down there) should be less crowded and all the parks close earlier. I should have plenty of energy to devote to enjoying this lovely resort!
Did I mention I am in a Pirate Room????? Yes, that is my highlight this trip! Many pictures to be taken and posted for my f&f!
Don't let the size of the resort scare you. There is a bus stop for each area in the resort. And they aren't that far from the rooms. Try to get a room close to Old Port Royal. We stayed at Trinidad North, which is located right next to Old Port Royal. I was able to walk over to the food court in the morning while the wife and kids got ready and I would get a quick breakfast for all of us. The only glitch was sometimes you would have to wait a bit for a bus to where you wanted to go. We eventually turned it into a reason to explore. We would take the bus to Epcot and then the monorail to Magic Kingdom and visa versa. I would rate the resort 8.5 out of 10.![]()

So as not to confuse others reading this, I'm going to correct what you wrote. Aruba is across the lake from Old Port Royale, the complex that has the food court, main pool, restaurant, shops, arcade, etc.
The Custom House is on the same side of the lake, it's pretty much behind Aruba. The Custom House has the resort's lobby ... front desk, Bell Services, lobby concierge, etc.
