Polynesian lagoon views

We're planning a trip for this winter and are trying to decide if the lagoon views are worth it. I don't think we've ever stayed in one of the lagoon view rooms, but I just had a friend say that the view isn't that good.

Any opinions, how good is the view?

i LOVED the lagoon views when I syed there as a child. The building we stayed at the most is now named Tahiti!

The last logoon view stay we had meant that if you stood on the balcony leaned over and twisted your head clockwise about 30 deg. you could see some water through some trees. I would put in a request for a specific buidling if I where to do it again.

Not sure how wdfamily4 had a lagoon view room like that but all lagoon view rooms face the lagoon and the Magic Kingdom directly. They are located in Aotearoa, Tuvalu and Tahiti longhouses. There are now also rooms under the category Magic Kingdom view and they use to be categorized as lagoon view rooms but were changed because they have a direct view of the castle. There are many garden view rooms that see the lagoon off to the side also located in Fiji, Samoa and Tokelau so you could request those buildings and save the money and hope you get one of the rooms with a partial lagoon view but we do love the lagoon view rooms. I like to be able to relax on the patio and watch the fireworks or just the activities going on at the lagoon.

Thank you, all. We really wanted to splurge and were hoping to catch some fireworks and pretty views if we got the lagoon views. I think we'll go for it. It's great to be able to get some good info from you all who are in the know.

We where second floor Aoteroa facing the lagoon and had a treetop just a little way ouside the balcony. It was a while ago though.

Rooms 2225-2229 on the second floor on the lagoon side of Aotearoa are garden view category. Were you in one of those? Where you charged lagoon view rates? I know stuff grows and they do try to trim it but I think I would be upset if I paid lagoon view prices and had to strain to see the water.

Sorry but I cant remember what we where charged for or the exact room number. It was back in 1998 and there where so many trips after that to remember. I know when we booked we booked for a Lagoon view because we did want to see the Castle and had talked extensively about the view before we booked.

I know there were a few Lagoon view rooms that were starting to get blocked from the plants growing. Maybe it was one of those. The good thing since than that they have done is they now have a Magic Kingdom view category and it guarantees a direct view of the castle. That does not mean that the Lagoon view rooms that are left do not see the castle because most still do but they might be partly blocked. Also when we where there last week they have removed some trees and chopped down plants to clear many of the lagoon views. It is always good to hear about different experiences though.

View or no view. It is still near the top of the list of favorite hotels. And that is before the pool renovation.I would say only the Contemporary beats the location and its not themed as well. Can't wait to stay again.
