i haven't been camping in a few years but...
i used to go every year. i LOVE it there!! we always stayed in a tent on the 1700 loop (which is the pet friendly area). hope that you don't get a site RIGHT next to the road b/c the buses run super late and start back up really early in the morning. it's awful. you can either take the bus or walk to the outposts, restaurants, etc. they also have nature trails. if you make reservations in advance you can rent a golf cart to toodle around in. they also offer bikes to rent. there are pools several locations and volleyball nets. there are restrooms/showers as well. buses and boats take you to the parks. you can go down to the beach and even rent lil boats.

I really want to camp at FW. In fact I even purchased a brand new tent camper in 2006 for just this reason. It has everything...AC. furnace, hot water heater, a pull out dining area, screen room, outdoor rinse off shower, cable hook up and heated matresses. The only thing it didn't come with was a wife who would camp in it while going to WDW!!!!! She absolutely refuses to take the camper. First it was the gas prices, then it was the fear of towing it through the mountains of TN and then the truth came out. SHe's spolied and wants to stay in a hotel or resort when we go. The most frustrating thing about it is that she agreed with the purchase and was on board for the WDW camping trips at first!
Anyone know where I can find a new wife?

We used to go camping at Fort Wilderness all the time until my father sold our camper. That used to be the only place we ever stayed because it was cheaper than staying at one of the hotels. Now that we don't have a trailer anymore, we stay at the resorts. I loved the campground, the only thing ever bad about it was the bus system. Sometimes it took a while to get anywhere and sometimes it was pretty confusing until you were there for a few days. I know some people that never understood the bus system. We went there ealier this year and stayed in the camping cabins. These were just as lovely and very rustic. I would jump in a hearbeat to stay in the cabins again.
