I prefer the moderates but sometimes I can only afford the values. And if I do stay at a value it's got to be Pop Century.
I'm a DVC member at Boardwalk but I do miss the mods.
Just DVC or Deluxe for me
I think they are all nice hotels in there own way. But I would choose DVC.
I like mods
Love the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Polynesian...never got a chance to stay at a moderate or off site but ive heard great things about the moderate hotels
We have never stayed at a Deluxe but the mods offer a nice relaxing time. Values are nice but the waterslides andsit down restaurants make for a really nice vacation.
We have stayed at All Star Sports(2), Pop Century(2), Carribean Beach Club(1), Port Orleans French Quarter(2), Port Orleans Riverside(2), Animal Kingdom Lodge(2), Wilderness Lodge(2), Fort Wilderness(several as a kid) and, since finally joining DVC, Beach Club Villas(1). Our next trip is at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge. Our favorite value is Pop Century, Moderate is Riverside, Deluxe is Wilderness Lodge...which is why we can't wait to get back there in June. The few times we tried staying offsite were a disaster between the commute and the traffic on international drive (yuk!)
Favorite Deluxe resort: POLYNESIAN!
Moderate resort: Caribbean Beach!
I used to be 100% Disney all the time, but honestly......
Thier pricing has reached "mythical" Yeah they have specials, but if your local store marked up the ceral to $10 a box so they could give you a 75% discount is that really "special" For 3 star hotels, Disney has just priced themselves out of my 'market'
Mods and values are a better deal, but tonight my options were the Marriott Courtyard at $69 or the Caribbean Beach at $129 Hmm.....$60 for theme and "less" amenenties... I am at the Courtyard :)
I have DVC, but if I can't stay there then... off I go. (I don't do International Drive, only LBV and the commute is often easier then from some Disney hotels :) )
We're deluxe vacationers. We travel 1100 miles by Amtrak and wait for this vacation so no way am I going to comprise it by slacking on a room. We've done 43 trips so far and enjoy the resort and its amenities alot. If I had to stay off site, we would not go. I'll pick cheaper hotels around home but not on a distant vacation. We've done most of the deluxes since 1977 and the last 10+ stays have been to Wilderness Lodge, we've found our home so no more searching or looking, it has all we want in price, amenities and location.
We usually rent points but we're going a full week now including Friday and Saturday and what Disney Studio has set for points on just those 2 days I can stay a whole week in a Deluxe 1 bedroom apartment with full kitchen and jacuzzi at Bonnet Creek.
This is my first stay there in May and if it don't workout its back to renting points at SSR.
We did stay 1 night at Coronado Springs in Oct for a AAA rate and liked it there. We stayed 4 days at Caribbean with a AP rate in March and like it there also. I will not stay at a value because I like it to quiet when I sleep.
OKW is my last resort of any deluxe resort being that we just left there and didn't have a very good stay.
My next stay at a Deluxe will probably be WL in October -if Bonnet Creek don't work out.
When I'm in the rig I usually stay at Hojo on 192 by I-4. Its not the best place but its clean and I can park the rig there and drop the trailer and come and go as I please and always have a place to park. And the best part is they only charge me 31.00 tax and all on anynight because I'm in there often.
If money was no object of course I'd pick deluxe. Unfortunately I live in the real world so I picked value.
