http://bestsmileys.com/textinbubble2/8.gif Are you saying the paper said it was a problem at Disney or just in general? They are a huge pain if you happen to come across them. I had a family member who encountered them while on vacation in Mexico, they can really scieve(spelling??) you out.:faint:
The only bug problem I know of at WDW is in the root system of that tree in the middle of AK, although I think Claire is doing a good job of "Spraying".
They are gross. They live in rugs and baseboards by day and get in the matress frame work. Mobile at night. Snack time. :inquis:
Lice from hotel pillows is another dirty little secret. As much as possible, bring your own. Carry a pyrethricide, if you can and spray the beds (matresses not linens) and let it dry before you lay down on them. There is a 48 hours or 60 minutes investigation of major hotels and bedbugs, contaminated (bodily fluids) bedspreads, and "other" infestations are rampant as housekeeping does not have the time or resources to change and launder every pillos and spread, everytime. EWEW yuck.
yes heard that disney also has had this problem as other hotels, they do travel people bring them in.
what type/name of pyrethicide should you taje with you. can you also take it on the plane?
how can we protect ourselves????????????
Ugh! I hate the thought of this, but knowing it can happen will allow one to at least try to do preventative measures. We'll be in a hotel next week for a couple of days.
If buy chace you ever get scabies, The absolute best remedy is by a company called All Stop from Erath Louisiana. Call the order line and they will talk you through it.We got scabies from 5 abandoned pups and didn't know what it was but it cleared and stopped in less than 2 weeks. Use product SPARINGLY as directed.
There is a spray that you can take with you if you want but Heat kills them. Constantly changing bed linens takes care of this. Also steam cleaning carpets and wiping boards down helps also.
A friend of mine stayed at Disney last year & ran into this just problem. They were not happy. He told me you could you the air can for helping when your in your room this is the stuff you use on your keyboard computer cleaning. I hope these bugs are gone by the time I go as some bugs that bite me I get hives wonder if I should let my travel agent know so they can let the resort know. Do you think it would help?
OK lets take a deep breath here. WDW has a regular cycle of spraying for insects and rodents. I know 'cause I found a roach in my room one time.
One in 21 straight years of WDW travel. As I moved to another room they were coming into spray the old one. While yes you could come in contact with a bed bug, the odds are sure with you that this worry at WDW is a not great threat. Icky subject.
just found this site that also lists complete list of hotels who have had a major bug problem
How to Avoid Bed Bugs When Traveling
Thanks for the info, never had this problem.
Ewe.
Lets see a couple of reports from 2007 until 2009. Odds are still in our favor or nobody including me has ever seen this site to report it on.
Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.
And when I was a child, my Mom would put me to sleep and say sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite. I was happier when I didn't know what that meant. Ewe.
Don't lay on top of those bedspreads...those are seldom cleaned.
