Sending packages

I've heard that you can send packages in the mail to your resort before you arrive. I want to send a package when I go down to the World this summer. I'm putting together a fun gift basket type of box with disney related things. I figure it's a lot cheaper than buying a gift basket type thing through the Disney's floral shop, and can personalize it for our tastes a little bit better. But how exactly would this work? Would I send a package in the mail to the specific address of the resort we are staying at? How would I address it (Att: my name)? I would obviously call a head to let them know I would be sending something. I'm sure I could just ask the front desk of the resort at Disney, but I didn't know if anyone else has tried to do this and how sucessful it was?

Re: Sending packages

I have read of people doing exactly what you are doing with great success. Put your name and confirmation number in the Attn block and mail to your resort. To confirm your resort's address, you can call and ask them to annotate your reservation with a note stating that you are expecting a package.

Re: Sending packages

When we went down last year in April and shipped my daughters umbrella stroller down and also back home. We just addressed it to the resort address and put our reservation number on it. We shipped it about 3-4 days before our trip to ensure that it was there when we arrived. It was there when we got to our hotel and they brought it to our room once we checked in.

Re: Sending packages

I do this all the time. I ship it UPS so I can track it. Make sure to allow enough time for it to get there. Looks like you're in NY so allow at least 5 days for it to get there.
Here's how I address it:

Lori Burke
c/o Pop Century Resort
address
Confirmation # .......
Arrival Date......

Make sure if you ship it UPS that they don't cover up your label so that all the information is seen.

Re: Sending packages

I shipped everything for my son for his College Program apartment to the French Quarter at Port Orleans. Space Bagged. The only thing he took on the plane was his golf clubs and computer.

Remember to get the actual street address for the hotel. It differed from the one in Birnbaum's Book.

Some hotels do not have storage areas for boxes. Ours was at Port Riverside and they sent it over to the French Quarter after we checked in.

Re: Sending packages

This is good to know. We have an Owner's Locker and I would love to send our toiletries via UPS so I don't have to take them on the plane.

Re: Sending packages

We do this all the time. Works out great! Just be prepared to pay a few dollars when you pick it up. We sent a box down to CS this past September. They charged a $5 handling fee. Now I'm not sure if it's because it's a big convention resort. They told me a private company now takes care of this for Disney. So each resort may charge different. But it was well worth it for us. We sent down mainly snacks and breakfast items. Just follow what Lori said about addressing the label.
