Re: Preview of new Disney Art of Animation Resort
MousePlanet is reporting:
When construction of "Pop Century Resort – The Legendary Years" was put on hold, the structure of only one building had been completed. When the resort was renamed "Disney's Art of Animation Resort" and construction was resumed, only that building's structure stayed the same. That building, part of the Little Mermaid section, is similar to Pop Century and the All-Star Resorts, as well as all four Moderate resorts, with exterior hallways.
The other nine buildings, started after the redesign, will feature interior corridors—previously only available at Disney's Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts.

Betting the inside hallways will cut down on the noise factor associated with the value resorts, a big bonus.

Nice! I love the idea of the indoor hallways!

Re: Preview of new Disney Art of Animation Resort
When I first pictured a Disney Resort, a room like Finding Nemo or Cars is what I had in mind. I was quite disappointed when I orginally saw photos. I think they look fantastic!
I'm a huge Lion King fan, but I prefer the Nemo or Cars themed rooms. I think they have more appeal. I'm heading to WDW in September of next year, and value resorts will definitely be a lot friendlier on my bank account. Especially since we will be coming all the way from Australia!!

I would much rather have more money to spend at the park, since our room will just be a place for us to sleep, and basically shower.

Still think it sounds/looks cool...hey for now I have a little one who would love this for about the next 10 years. Something tells me I will get to learn my way around the value resorts until 2022!!

I actually think it looks the opposite. The room themes are different based on which build you're in etc. which isn't how it is at the other values (unless you count a poster in the room as being different). With this, each building's rooms are also themed. To me that shows a little bigger budget than the others I guess.

My fiance is going to go nuts over the Cars themed rooms. But then so will I!

Frankly, I have no money. I work for a non-profit. And when I go to Disney, I have to stay in the budget hotels -- I have no other option... So I am really excited that there is a new one to choose from. Looks fun! I would love to be able to stay at the Boardwalk every vacation... But, like my other vacations, I will be in my budget hotel, happy as a clam -- and visit my luxury hotels during the day
As far as this hotel in particular, I wish they would have incorporated some classic Disney into the mix...
Although I wasn't a huge Cars fan - the Cozy Cone outdoor section looks cute. (rooms look very similar to Santa Fe in Paris now) and the Lion King walk through is very cool too... All in all I think I like the exteriors much more than the interiors... I totally agree that some of the prints are a bit much... Expecially in the Lion King room.
Well if those family suites are priced the same as the one's at All Star Music then I'd hardly call them "budget". You'd be looking at close to $300 bucks a night.

Re: Preview of new Disney Art of Animation Resort
Does anyone know if they'll be extending Generation Gap Bridge all the way across from Pop Century?
-
Re: Preview of new Disney Art of Animation Resort
I believe that bridge was already complete but just blocked off at the time Pop opened.
I remember when the new concept for AoA was announced that when that portion was complete that Disney was going to retheme Pop to work off of AoA. We'll see if that happens I guess.

Re: Preview of new Disney Art of Animation Resort
Well, being ALWAYS on a super tight budget, it looks okay. We are park commandos, sleep, shower, change clothes go to the parks, so it would suit our purpose. Until we sell this place, we are usually only there for 4-5 anyway and relaxing in the room never happens.
I can see the upside and the downside. For me though, looks fine.
