A year long rehab of Port Orleans announced

Queen sized beds are coming to Port Orleans, new furniture and 512
    Storybook Rooms.

    And from Disney Blog:

A new royal bed design that includes headboards with special effects above ornately decorated beds and various icons associated with Disney princes and princesses throughout the room will further immerse guests in their favorite stories.
Generally, Walt Disney World Resort rooms are completely renovated on a 12-year cycle. The room’s “soft goods” – including carpets, fabric, and paint – are replaced after six years; and the “hard goods” – including furniture, fixtures, and flooring – are replaced after 12 years, which is in line with industry standards.
All 3,056 rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, including the 512 new Royal Guest Rooms, are undergoing a hard goods renovation that will be compete by June 2012.

    From All Ears:

-- Walt Disney World is also converting 512 rooms in the Port Orleans Riverside Resort into "Royal Guest Rooms," inspired by the famous Disney Princesses. There will be bathroom faucets in the shape of Aladdin's genie lamp, headboards with fiber-optic special effects, and gold and crystal accents. Dubbed "storybook" hotel rooms, the concept behind these accommodations is that Princess Tiana (from The Princess and The Frog) invited other Disney Princesses for a vacation. Royal Guest Rooms will open in March 2012. You can begin booking the new Royal Guest Rooms in the middle of this summer.
In addition, the full-sized beds in all Port Orleans rooms will be replaced with queen-sized beds, as the resort undergoes some other refurbishments.

They aren't really good for anything,

I am all for the queen size beds but I dont think that the princess rooms will fit in with the over all theme of the resort. The only thing that I think would fit in is if they rehab some of the rooms at POR-FQ to the Princess and the Frog theme. Im sorry but I dont think Aladdin whistles dixie.

PO.R is my favorite resort. I strongly favor the Mansion side.It is very charming and it is so tranquil after a day at the parks. I have no interest in cuting it up...but if they leave the majority of the rooms alone and I can just have my "normal type room" so be it.

Now if they start cuting up the grounds I will not be amused. Thank God for Queen Beds.

This rehab is falling in line with the closure of the Poly rumor. Queen beds, removal of trundles. Time will tell.

Queen Beds, it's about time. The rooms look great. I love PO French Quarter and Riverside. Can't wait to see the new rooms.

    MousePlanet is reporting...

When we told you about the Royal Guest Rooms on May 2, we didn't know where at Port Orleans the rooms they would be. Originally, it was assumed that they would be distributed throughout the resort. We now know that these rooms will be located in a complete conversion of two buildings at Magnolia Bend and nowhere else. Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace will consist entirely of these new rooms. This decision is likely so that it will be easier to make sure that the royal linens go to the right rooms. Of course, this also means that families won't be able to get connecting rooms with a princess theme for the kids and standard furnishings for the parents.

I'll keep a look out when we're there in September to see if there's anything interesting to report. I'm glad I managed to get a room booked without a problem. Knowing they are going to be doing refurbs I'm shocked they weren't booked in the rooms that will be available in the meantime.

The rooms look nice and I'm sure they will be "cheap" to stay in as well.

I agree. I'm glad that they're not going to change the POFQ rooms.
