Preferred room at PC, is it worth it?

Currently have preferred room at PC for October at $71. Had preferred room last year at ASMo and loved being so close to the food court and busses, but we only paid $57. Of course, can get $59 standard room at PC, but have no idea where they would put us. If you believe the theory you only have so many heartbeats in your lifetime (about 3 billion figuring around 100,000/day) is the extra $12 worth spending to have more time available in the parks, etc., rather then schlepping to and from another building at PC when I only have about 1 billion heartbeats left?

Well I'm a cheap guy, but for $12 I say make your vacation that much more pleasant. At the same time, I don't buy the whole heartbeat thing or athletes would die very young. As I say to my fam and friends, "take the stairs, you'll live longer."

We are headed to Pop Century in Sept and have requested a room in a certain bldg...from what I understand it is not unusual to get what you request in the off season so I figured, why not its worth a shot...plus we are arriving early in the morn so we should have a good chance of getting what we want..all the preferred rooms are in the 60's bldg and we would rather stay in the 70's(we like the era better) so we asked...will let you all know how well it worked
It's a Disney thing. If you understood, your only question would be "can I go?"

I stayed in the 60's the last time we were there.. We did have to pay for the preferred room rates but it was WELL worth it!!! Especially at night when you get home and really dont feel like walking an extra 10 minutes to get to your room!! You will be glad that you paid the extra $$!!!

We stayed in the 70s buildings twice. I didn't find that it was more than another minute to the room.

Welcome to the boards!!! Don't expect the 2nd half of PC to open anytime soon; perhaps never. Disney would have to have close to 100% occupancy of the other resorts before they would consdier finishing PC. If I were a betting person (which I am) I would say Disney will make the 2nd section a DVC resort. Time will tell.

it was reported elsewhere that due to a hurricane (charlie?) the previously constructed buildings have to be torn down and rebuilt again because they weren't properly protected and are rotted away or something to that effect.

as far as a preferred room goes, i think all it really gets you is to be close to classics hall which is definitely nice and all for transportation, but i don't think it'd kill you to be anywhere else either. that said, myself, i'm going standard but i did make a request to be as close to classics hall and the hippy dippy pool as possible, so hopefully that lands me in the corners of the 50s or 70s.

I tend to agree with Brad....when I was there last it seemed like they were not doing any work on them at all. I will be curious to see what happens with them.
