sit down restaraunt, better pool....I have never stayed at a moderate but this is what I hear. perhaps a hot tub..and I believe the rooms are a little bigger.
I'm heading down to WDW at the end of this summer and I'm looking at staying at one of the value resorts (Pop, Movies, Music, Sports) but for a bit more money I could book Caribbean Beach. Aside from the boost from value to moderate price range are there any distinct advantages to staying at Caribbean Beach ie, closer to parks, better on-site food and ammenities. I'd appreciate any input.

+ larger rooms
+ more food choices (food court + sit down restaurant + pizza delivery)
+ themed main pool with slide, 8 other 'village' pools
+ boat rental, bike rental, and other activities at resort
+ mini-fridge included in room
+ definitely nicer overall resort theming - you really feel like you're in the islands - white sand beaches and hammocks
Biggest question: how much time will you be in your room? If you're going commando-style and will only be at the resort to sleep, then save the money and stay at the value resorts. If you're bringing kids - or want to have some down-time, the moderates are worth the extra money, IMHO.

I have stayed at the caribbean beach, as well as value resorts before, like pop and all star movies. For a bigger pool, if that appeals to you, perhaps a bit better bus service to parks, and cool tropical theming, go for it with the extra money. If you dont mind a really small room but want the disney feel still, then go for a value resort. If you really just need a place to sleep, maybe grab a quick bite in the food court, go for a value room.
I like the moderate for the theming and a bit more room and amenities, and my kids like the moderate for the water slides. Have fun whatever you do!!!

That's a real good point I didn't think about generally I'm only there to sleep and have no real need for the pool. I typically get up reasonably early and like to go to the Extra Magic Hours for MK Epcot and MGMOriginally Posted by disneydame2004
Is Caribbean Beach a lot closer to the parks than the value resorts? From what I remember the value resorts were out by Animal Kingdom.
I was at Caribbean Beach (as you can see in my sig) when it first opened but I don't remember much about it.
I've stayed at Coronado, all the value resorts, and a few of the deluxes. My personal feeling is that if you're not planning on spending much time in the resort, it's not worth the bump up to moderate unless you need the space. I can look past the themeing differences, lack of sit-down restaurants, and lack of waterslides to make up for the saved cash.
When you make the bump up to deluxe resorts, you can start getting things like walking distance to the parks (Contemporary, Yacht/Beach, Boardwalk...) which *really* are worth it.
I've stayed at a Moderate resort and this is my two cents:
1. more food choices
2. better pools
3. larger rooms
4. mini fridge
5. I wouldn't say the theming is better, but it is definitely on par with the value
