Resorts & Accomodations Discuss survey - where have you stayed? in the Vacation Planning forums; Caribbean Beach Resort, and I would def. recommend it. Getting a 'preferred' room is even better. (that's what we did, and we had an awesome time.)...

As you can see by my tagline, I've only had the prvilege of staying on site twice...my past 2 visits. Needless to say, I don't plan on staying off-site again.

In 2003, we stayed at the All-Star Movies, and this past Super Bowl week, we stayed at Pop Century. Both are very similar...smallish rooms, outside corridors, large food court and souvenier shops. The grounds, with the large icons and themed pools, are an attraction in themselves. I did enjoy every minute we stayed there, but I also keep in mind that I stayed at both hotels in off-peak seasons. I wonder how noisy they get during the high seasons.

My ultimate goal is to eventually stay at the Contemporary, with a park view room, so I can gaze at the Castle all night long!!!

Been to WDW a total of 12 times. First time in 1988 we stayed at the Hilton in the Disney Village. Grand Floridian had just opened and we fell in love with it. Since that first trip, We've stayed at the Beach Club twice, the Polynesian once and the GF the other 8 times - once in concierge. There is nothing like being on the monorail.

We'll be returning this coming July (2005) and staying at - you guessed it - the GF again

The older my girls get, the more I get talked into staying at The Beach Club/Yacht Club. And the older I get, the more I like that -- because they can go in the back gate of Epcot and I can stay home! There's something about them with cell phones only being 5 minutes away that is easier than being at another resort and them having to ride the bus back -- although I now have an 18 year old who I trust to navigate -- or do I? None of them have any sense of direction, they get that from my husband.

Last year we stayed at Wilderness Lodge, and the girls really didn't enjoy it that much, although they really, really wanted those bunk beds conceptually!

This year, we're back to The Beach Club. In the moderate resorts, the girls like Coronado Springs the best. We've stayed there three times.

They didn't really enjoy Old Key West and I don't think I'd go back there.

We did a budget trip and stayed at All Star Sports, and we rather enjoyed that. It was definitely crowded and noisy that weekend, but it was crowded everywhere since it was Super Soap Weekend.

My eldest (24) swears by the Contemporary. There is no other resort in her mind. She stayed here on her first trip in 1985 and if she had her way, it is the only resort she would every stay at. She's been out of the loop for the last five years, though, and hasn't stayed at the Beach Club -- so she's back this year and I think we will work hard to convert her!
Back to Disney for Super Soap Weekend!

Two times offsite. Once at All Star Music and once at Carribean Beach. I'll never stay offsite again. Staying at Disney, even the cheapo places, is waaaay more magical and fun.

Let's see...Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian, Caribbean Beach, Dixie Landings (now is Port Orleans Riverside), Port Orleans French Quarter, Coronado Springs, All Star Music, All Star Sports, and All Star Movies, and Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. I have also stayed at the condos at the Disney Institute and a few offsite places. Don't ask me which place I like best...it's all Disney and WHO stays in their room anyway???!!!

Okay I'll give this a shot but until the end they are in no particular order, I've just listed what we liked best

Contemporary (2) -- really big rooms and convenience to Chef Mickeys
Wilderness Lodge (3)-- love the Christmas decorations, the pool is too small
AKL (4) -- Love the whole thing, can't find one thing to dislike
CSR (23) -- Again, love the whole thing, especially the late night strolls around the lake (breathtakingly romantic) and the restaurants (Market and sit-down)
CB (5) -- The rooms are bigger than the other moderates
POFQ (7) -- the boats to Downtown Disney
POR (7)-- the boats to DD, the horse drawn carriage, the restaurant, will only stay in Magnolia Bend, intensely dislike Bayou section
POP (3) -- Will do in a pinch but not for more than one night as rooms are too small, however they have the best meatball hoagies in the world
AS anything -- never ever again horrible experience two times, won't
    risk a third.
Hilton at Downtown Disney (2) -- definitely not Disney but not as bad as the AS's. It was just OK

OK, here are the resorts I've stayed in:

Animal Kingdom Lodge- I stayed here the last time I went (2 years, now! I want to go back!) with my girlfriend. We were originally going to stay at Dixie Landings (It will always be called that for me!), but I got a call before we went and they said it was going to be under construction, so we got upgraded to AKL for like 15 dollars extra a night. When we got there, they told us we got a free upgrade to a Deluxe Savannah view room. It was wonderful. The atmosphere, and everything. We spent an entire day just around the hotel.

Dixie Landings- My mom's favorite place, so when we went when I was younger (yopunger meaning 14-18ish), we would usually stay there. I love it there, as well.

Carribean Beach Resort- My mom's favorite before Dixie Landings. I also went there once by myself and stayed there.

All-Star Sports- Anothere time I went alone, I stayed there.

Grand Floridian- I don't know how we did this, but my mom wanted to stay there once, so we did. I loved being on the monorail track.

My least favorite one was probably the All-Star Sports. Not because there was anything wrong with it, I just don't like sports. I only stayed there because of the price.

My girlfriend and I would love to stay at the COntemporary next time we go. We would love to be on the monorail track.

And to anyone who thinks it's not a big difference between satying in the Magic Kingdom and staying outside of it, you are kidding yourselves. Believe me. Until I was about 8ish, we would always stay outside of the park, and we never understood what the big deal was with staying in the park. Then we did it for the first time (Carribean Beach). It is such an overwhelming difference! We vowed never to stay outside again. From the convenience to the bus, to the delivery from the park to the room with whatever you buy, it is simply wonderful. And now with the value resorts, I doubt the price difference is even that much of an issue anymore.

    Just my 2 cents.

when i was young we used to stay off site too, probably until after my brother was born...so until i was about 5...i only have one memory of staying at the Pickett(does anyone remember that hotel?) and the restaurant didn't have any food i was willing to eat and the menu had parrots on it(i hate birds!)..then i guess we got a good deal on a room onsite and we've stayed on property ever since then...it really is a huge difference...you all know the perks so i don't need to repeat them.

I've stayed at Pop and ASMo so far. Good value for the price, IMO, and my daughter (heck, the adults too!) loved the oversized icons spread throughout. One of these years I will get to a moderate, and my ultimate goal is to stay in a park view room at the main Contempory tower!
